I’ve just cut him to 12s.
January 4, 2009 at 21:19 #201556Last years juvinles really didnt ring my bell bar Rainbow View.
Back what ever Mark Tompkins runs in the Lincoln each way, gioven that he was won or had placed loads of times…
David Nichols record in the race is pretty terrible, Stoute won it with a horse who went on too win graded stakes in the states.
Given the drubbing the east coast trainers took at last years breeders cup it proves one thing, you need horses with a turn of foot too be competative on an artifucal surface, some of the east coast dirt horses simply coudnt.
The same comments apply too Danehill line horses, they dont seem too go well on artitfical surfaces.January 4, 2009 at 23:49 #201604So you’re saying that Harald Bluetooth (by Danetime) wouldn’t do too well if he went to Dubai for a few weeks? I’ve just remembered, they also have turf, but maybe they reserve that for really, really good horses.
Anyway, I hope he goes for the Lincoln, it would cut my form study down. The only problem is that he’s never run in a large field.
edit:
Have just actually looked up 2007-08 Stats for AW on RP website.
Dansili 46% winners to runners
Danetime 40%
Danehill 30%
Danehill Dancer 23%Bertolini and Mujahid, other sons of Danzig, like Danehill, also do well on all-weather.
January 11, 2009 at 20:18 #203243Well Adains Danehills suck on US dirt! Not the Alweather we have in Euroland.
I am not a Danehill Dancer fan, nenver have been.
Bertolini was useful on the sand in Dubai, his stock are a mute point.
You need a listed/group class runner too win the Lincoln these days.
January 11, 2009 at 20:28 #203248That’s okay then.
Harald Bluetooth should be competing in Listed races by mid-season.

He’s only had five races, and won 3 of them.
One of the defeats was his debut, and the other was his last race last season, when something obviously went amiss.
January 17, 2009 at 03:47 #204547Those listed races could be in southern California…
Allot depends on the ground as well, I have known it quick but other times soft enough too have paul Nichols running decent chasers on it.
January 17, 2009 at 12:53 #204602The first prices are up, Bet365, available on the RP website, so you can just click on a horse and look at its form. One of the 3 co-favourites is Princess Haya’s, which has been winning on the Soft.
Harald is 14. I’ll wait a week or so, and then use one of those introductory offers, so effectively I’m getting twice the odds. (Betting Account back in the black for 2009, after Miss Penny last night.)January 17, 2009 at 13:05 #204605I was very impressed with Extraterrestrial, and Paul Hanagan, last Spring, and he was my only bet at Royal Ascot, apart from the Wokingham and the Cork & Orrerry.
Maybe he’ll return to form again this Spring? Is it just coincidental that he seems best on a Round course?January 21, 2009 at 00:43 #205443I was clearing out my pockets on the train yesterday, and came across a bet for Raptor for the 2008 Lincoln. He made a move 2 furlongs out, but was later eased.
Just checked, his OR has dropped from 102 a year ago to 90 now. Some horses have a good season one year, and a bad season in another year.
January 21, 2009 at 22:45 #205622I’m not so keen on Harald Bluetooth now. Why is he running in a poxy £7000 race tonight? If he wins this race, and the Lincoln trial at Wolverhampton, he’ll ruin his mark.
Entires are out today, by the way.
January 22, 2009 at 03:34 #205678The J.Gosden pair (Charm school and Expresso star) both look like being very progresive 4yo types who could be better than handicappers later on in the season, what makes them so difficult to separate is that they are
rated virtually the same, have the same owner, are both about 10/1 and
both have a profile of form that says "Lincoln"! I wish i knew which one
will run! i personally favour Charm School ( Dubai Destination, out of a
Rainbow Quest mare) because he has ran twice over Doncasters 7f and will have developed physically over the winter, wiil like a bit of cut and
should find the mile trip perfect! Expresso Star may just find the mile a touch sharp and his American Breeding doesn"t tick the box his stable companions does!! I still hope Zaahid goes for the race too having been so well fancied for last years race, only to miss the cut. solid e/w at 16/1January 24, 2009 at 02:04 #206140Docofthebay is running in a few minutes time.
Presumably, he’d run in the Lincoln. because I can’t think what else they’d be aiming him at, [edit, unless there’s a race for him in Dubai in a few weeks time.]
January 26, 2009 at 15:39 #206587Michael Jarvis is got one aimed at it. Ran in the Guineas last year but the name escapes me.

Fireside, when trained by Chapple-Hyam. Hasn’t run since. Rated 92.
Owned by Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, so presumably you’re not going to get a big price. 16s with the bookies, less on betfair.

January 29, 2009 at 22:26 #207055I
thought
Harald Bluetooth was injured – Spencer looked down at the near fore when pulling up after winning at Kempton last week.
Now for Plan B.
Working through the field with form study should pay dividends later in the season.
February 1, 2009 at 16:55 #207520You’ve warmed my heart with this thread, Gerald.
Expresso Star is the first contender of note, but I wonder if he is a stronger candidate for 10 furlongs now? I love a Gosden runner early in the season though.
