Isn’t this "absolutely cracking" Betfair Chase worth having a not so good Amlin Phil?
There was no excuse for such a poor Amlin
November 23, 2013 at 23:21 #459613Congratulations to Karen McLintock in spotting an opportunity and sending the admirable but outclassed Bygones Of Brid for a canter round in the Coral Hurdle.
He earned a well-deserved ten grand for third.

November 24, 2013 at 04:58 #459627The best Betfair in history aside, there have been some pathetic turnouts for the past week or so. At a midweek meeting not long ago, I think it was Fakenham, there were 33 runners for 33k prize money.
If that happened ‘naturally’ so be it, but the Horsemen’s Group has now ‘persuaded’ all but 5 tracks to meet their ‘required’ level of prize money. Chairman Philip Freedman was full of indignation last week about these 5 tracks holding out, yet when the blight of small fields strikes, his quotes are nowhere to be found.
It’s the first commercial deal I’ve ever seen where only one side needs to keep its agreement.

Agree, Joe. Makes their requests or demands for better terms seem disingenuous or hollow.
Karen McLintock entered her 10 year old stalwart Bygones Of Brid in the Coral and picked up £11,000 whilst many other horses stayed in their boxes over the weekend, not doubt to be seen soon in an 18 runner handicap with a top prize of £7,000 to the winner.
November 28, 2013 at 15:22 #460081Chatterbox another Henderson inmate lacking in sharpness first time out
Thought they were going chasing with him actually
November 29, 2013 at 14:11 #460148Great point just now from Cunningham about the huge stables sizes of Henderson, Nicholls etc and them having to come to terms with racing stable mates against each other.
Staggered by the lack of horses Henderson has at Newbury this afternoon. 60k available in two races and not one runner.
