As with any thread that contains ‘BBC’ in the title, there are accusations of bias both ways and always towards the opposite side. Funny that.
May 27, 2022 at 15:31 #1599382What examples of left wing bias can people give?
May 27, 2022 at 16:11 #1599384I’ll give an example. In their programming
There was a comedian called jeremy hardy. He was far left in his views and also an ira supporter. He was actually engaging and on many shows and sadly died only 58
He had a regular half hour on radio
4 which was frankly just his views and polemics. No real comedy. A pure half hour of the far left viewpointNow there is someone on the further right who’s also a very engaging broadcaster. I have no time for his views but can anyone anywhere imagine the bbc giving farage a series a half hour unchallenged monologues ?
And why is it different to
Hardy ?May 27, 2022 at 17:47 #1599393Farage seemed to have more appearances on Question Time than anyone else and also seemed to have an audience made up mainly of his supporters. Jeremy Hardy can’t have had a great deal of exposure as I’ve never heard of him.
May 27, 2022 at 18:03 #1599397I give up
May 27, 2022 at 18:43 #1599401The left are claiming bias because they still actually managed to lose, even with the help of said name in topic.
May 27, 2022 at 19:07 #1599408So any more ideas for BBC budget savings anyone? Nobody has launched a passionate defence of the One Show so that can go.
There seems to be a hell of a lot of local TV and radio. I do wonder if that’s at risk in the long run. Just looking at the list of stations on Sounds. Radio Guernsey and Jersey? Really? You don’t even need Radio Channel Islands. Radio Cymru 1 and 2? You don’t need two stations in Welsh.

I vote for “Celebrity…” so that’s 50% of programmes.
