March 26, 2008 at 21:14 #153957Not sure why the RP have the Sheik looking so fiercely at his World Cup Trophy, but he sure looks as if he means business.
I think it’s a great picture. Posed pictures are usually so anodyne, it’s good to see some-one now and again, who’s not posing and looks like thunder. Funny thing was I then looked at the news column on the left and wat should my eyes alight on but the title, "Curlin means business!"
Neck above parapet time: I hope it’s a sign that Jalil will be ready to show him the way home, but I think Jalil looks a fair bet without Curlin at 3/1 .
Also, it looks to me as if Diamond Stripe will make Blackattykitty and Elusive Warning know they’ve been in a race, when they run in the Godolphin Mile. Also like Literato and Darjina in the Duty Free and, as outsiders, Yellowstone and Latency in the Sheema Classic.
March 27, 2008 at 10:44 #154027I may as well throw out there my provisional selections:
Dubai World Cup – Curlin but considering his draw he is definitely not worth it at 1/2. However, he should hack up.
Dubai Sheema Classic – Viva Pataca has the turn-of-foot and under a possible false tempo he could steal it. Otherwise Sun Classique is in impeccably strong form.
Dubai Duty Free – Darjina. Almost the bet of the night.
Dubai Golden Shaheen – Barbecue Eddie each-way. 15/1 I read down here. Superb!
UAE Derby – Royal Vintage smokes Honour Devil over the distance for mine. And delightfully, the market reads Honour Devil with a clear favouritism too!
Godolphin Mile – The Americans have a mortgage on this race. Diamond Stripes.

Don’t tell me, you had a sneaky thing for Curling and were hoping for a bit of 7/2?!

World Cup – CurlinMarch 30, 2008 at 03:02 #154521Asiatic Boy at 12/1 looks a good price.
Curlin coming out of stall 12.
At 6/1 a few weeks ago he was amazing value. At the SP, it was e/w ‘money for nothing’. Well done to all those who took the odds
As anticipated, Curlin was far too strong for these. The performance of the day, for me, has to go to Jay Peg. What a resiliant animal!March 30, 2008 at 03:45 #154522Jalil was a massive disappointment for me. Never really travelling and bellow par i feel.
Asiatic Boy was always the e/w bet of the card and all and sundry filled their boots it seems (including me).
I was gutted Happy Boy was a non runner as i was interested to see how it performed against an on song Jalil, as the form line through Gloria de Campeao suggested a close race or more!
I’ve been watching Smart Strikes progeny with interest recently and the sire seems to be producing some nice ones!
March 30, 2008 at 11:43 #154557All of the Godolphin runners seemed to be in a hole. None ran to form.
