As long as the derby is run on a day when I am not at work then thats the most important thing 9from a purely selfish point of view
). The problem is, if the race is run on the queens jubilee anniversary day (tuesday is it?) then will my employer be compelled to give me the day off? I am somewhat doubtful!January 10, 2010 at 23:03 #269212As long as the derby is run on a day when I am not at work then thats the most important thing 9from a purely selfish point of view

Incidentally, if you’re looking for a real political argument (and I’m not but this tickled me), the extra bank holiday in June 2012 is being formed of one addtional day & by removing May Day from the bank holiday calendar for the year. So a traditional socialist day off being replaced by a totally royalist one!
January 10, 2010 at 23:07 #269214One royal racing "change" which really pissed me off was back in 1997 when racing was cancelled the day of Princess Di’s funeral. It may possibly have been remotely justified had she been a racing fan and a regular attendee at the races, but she wasn’t and to this day I cannot see the justification.
Yeah but everything was cancelled that day wasn’t it?
That reminds me: my summer holiday was to Skegness that year. Set of on the day she died, came back on the day of the funeral. That was two fun journeys on local radio I can tell you! - AuthorPosts
