Was there another coup pulled off at Southwell

The hype surrounding the match up between
Stand Guard
and
La Estrella
in the seller at Southwell Today, started off with 2 horses
Aureate
and
Conducting
being withdrawn.
Now if you had a big bet on
John Butler’s
horse Stand Guard and La Estrella was to be withdrawn, under the rule 4 deduction rule you would end up with odds of
evens
instead of
1/66
on

Maybe I am just a cynic

Racing needs cynics, thousands of them to continually question those who take us for mugs.
January 28, 2014 at 18:07 #466358You’d actually end up with circa 4/9 rather than Evens depending on the rule 4. Still pretty good business when you could lay circa 1/40 about him after the market reformed!
The Stewards held an Enquiry into the circumstances leading to the late withdrawal of LA ESTRELLA (USA) by the gelding’s trainer, Don Cantillon, under a Veterinary Certificate issued by the BHA Veterinary Officer. They interviewed the Veterinary Officer, the Senior Veterinary Surgeon and an Equine Welfare and Integrity Officer. Having heard their evidence, the Stewards ordered a report to be forwarded to the British Horseracing Authority.
