The Cheltenham Park Course

Rob, is your course map suggesting that horses never left the Park Course during a race? I mean when they entered the straight for the final time, was it the “long” straight with 4 fences to jump or did they come down the Old Course and only jumped 2 in the straight?

When Edward Gillespie left Cheltenham,it was a big loss to the course

They stayed on the Park Course throughout, so it was the long straight with four fences. It is of course heresy to say it, but it was a better and fairer track than the Old Course.

From a spectating point of view I preferred the Park Course to the Old and New. Not surprised trainers preferred it as slopes were less severe.
