3 35 Compiegne EW- ROI MAGE 13/2
Has to give weight away all round as a grade 2 chase winner but is likely to run a very big race here. Form figures of 1-1-2 at this course shows he excels here and he is unbeaten in 2 races over today’s course and distance. Has won on heavy ground and will relish conditions here.
It was at this time in May last year where he showed his best form winning this race and then running a career best when 3rd in a grade 1.Lous Buck 3/1 looks the main danger for last years winning connections and could improve significantly stepping up in trip today.
ROI Mage looks a strong ew selection here and could easily end up proving too good with conditions ideal.
May 11, 2020 at 17:18 #1488108WD with the place Captain. I like the look of the French jumps but don’t know enough about the courses, trainers and fixture list to know who is trying and who is tuning up for another day (maybe it’s just the different fences but quite often it looks like they’re all just having a nice wee schooling pop round till the 2nd last…shouting and roaring on the bends notwithstanding).
I was interested in Feu Follet for that race but he was a NR.
May 12, 2020 at 11:43 #1488141I’m no expert on french racing by any means. Just been so long without racing that I wanted to try and solve a race (I don’t touch the American stuff and would normally not touch the french either).
Landed the ew but ultimately a stupid bet as I have no knowledge of these french NH trainers etc.May 12, 2020 at 21:18 #1488162Good luck Captain

June 1, 2020 at 10:23 #1489258Thanks guys.
I gave up on looking at the French racing Greenasgrass as I just don’t know enough about it or follow it normally.
Delighted that UK racing returns today though.6 15 Newcastle ASSAYER 14/1 ew
She ran well when 4th on debut in a higher grade class 3 novice at Chelmsford ridden by Sean Davis. Tom Hamilton takes over here and Fahey is likely to have her as fit as is possible. The step up to 1m 2f will suit and this is a drop in grade.
Her sire is Galileo and her dam is Fix who won 2 group 2s over 1m 2f as a 3yo in NZ.
She should improve and go close in this race at a decent price. In opposition Wise Glory may go off favourite but his sire is 0/13 on Tapeta so looks an unlikely winner, Byzantine Emperor has already been turned over at odds of 3/1 and 6/4fav in his 2 previous races. The frankel colt Valyrian Steel must have a good chance here on debut.
Luck On Sunday cost 2 million euros and is unlikely to be given a hard time first time up.Looks quite an open race but hopefully Faheys ASSAYER can take it at decent odds.

Ew Royal Address 12/1
Odds look far too big and shouldn’t be bigger than 9/2 for this. Should go close.
