I notice the £10.5k conditions race at Yarmouth on Friday has attracted just three declarations…
I know exactly what you are thinking – Yarmouth will be "getting what it deserves" and it will be Christine Dunnett running a couple of no hopers to pick up some prizemoney – none of the big names from Newmarket or up North would patronise such an event – they want to teach Yarmouth a lesson.
But what is this? W J Haggas? M Johnston? There must be some mistake.
I assume we are going to get 2 self certified non runners here, leaving Karl Burke to scoop the pot.
April 16, 2008 at 13:39 #158096It’s to do with coastal erosion, the decline of inshore fishing, kiss-me-quick hats and poor prize money. It would take ages to explain.

Wonder how it will be on Friday. No wonder Braveheart has found a race where they’re paying down to last place. Not exactly underside of forecast material.
April 16, 2008 at 17:19 #158123Braveheart’s record in the last week:
15 runners
6 winners (all leading before the home straight or equivalent)
4 lasts (all double figure fields)
1 second
1 second last
3 others! He doesn’t do things by halves does he? I wonder what could account for such a bi-modal distribution?

As your presence here clearly indicates you have internet access, why don’t you just look up the story in the Racing Post archive, or use a search engine to locate articles in the national press.

April 16, 2008 at 18:13 #158137Basically MP on the Easter Monday meeting all the Newmarket and other big trainers said they would boycott Yarmouths EM meeting due to shite prize money.
Christine Dunnett declared one in the 1m maiden and got e-mails from people like Mark Johnston saying she was a disgrace and John Gosden said that Yarmouth deserved a horse from CD in a maiden.
Now this meeting is a Great Leighs meet but the prize money is good and now the big boys are like flys around sugar with runners.

April 16, 2008 at 20:34 #158175No possible walkover for the Dunnett beast this time round, but every chance it will finish last again.
Anyone care to enlighten me when Mel last had runners at Yarmouth.
Even in the old days (when he had a decent sized string) I can’t remember him sending runners down there although he had a few winners at nearby Newmarket.April 18, 2008 at 17:41 #158562Braveheart lands the banker of the day for reverse fc backers. A nice 293% return on investment. Never a moment’s worry – couldn’t take the lead so nailed on for last place after a furlong.
He really should run more in these 3 runner heats.
