Richard Hannon is more convinced than ever that Rosallion is the best miler in Europe following last week’s narrow Sussex defeat and will give him another chance to prove it in Sunday week’s Aga Khan Studs Prix Jacques le Marois.

I love Rosallion but not as much as Richard..

The proof is on the course and the Hannon’s can ready one for a first time up Lockinge – LOST
but that run will put him spot on for the Queen Anne – LOST
but we didn’t have track position in a slowly run race.. Docklands had it worse – LOST
Rosallion wasn’t lame in the Sussex unlike Field of Gold so got turned over fair and square, he can blame track position but his jockey put him there. They wanted a fair pace, they got one

Rosallion is on course for the French race… Lets hope it doesn’t rain eh Richard as your best miler in Europe doesn’t like getting his hooves wet.. :rose:

Have some balls Richard and run him in the Breeders cup
WIN that and pronounce him the best miler in the WORLD … B-)

Junior has never been shy of over egging the pudding – he is a good horse but nothing more than that.

Richard face told the story before the Sussex, he looked like a nervous boy on his first day at primary school
How he can now proclaim this horse the best miler in Europe off the back of Field of Gold being lame and still not winning the race is a little much
That said I hope he wins the French race

Think Hannon feels he should have won both his last 2 races. Maybe he would have done with better rides. Haatem also received a poor ride last time. The common factor, the jockey.

Even if he had won both his last two races, it still wouldn’t have made him the best miler in Europe

After the Sussex Stakes debacle and now missing the Marois last minute, will he now need to win at York to ensure that his rather volatile owner doesn’t decide to move this horse on from Hannon?

He is well known for making rather out of the blue decisions to move horses as Luca Cumani, Roger Varian and Simon/Ed Crisford can all attest to.

Let’s be brutal here , Hannon badly needs this , Balding has put the yard badly in the shade this year

Out of the blue the owner has removed all his horses from OZ , must not be oberkeen on running one of his horses for 10 million in Golden Eagle .
This Rosallion is he like one those best to have never done this and that , like best English player never to have won England cap , best golfer never won a major etc etc .Best miler in world bar the ones that win races .

No, he is a decent horse but his form (even his G1 wins) come up short of the very top level and even though he will be the highest rated horse in the York race (a very winnable G1), his three defeats this season have all come against horses officially rated lower than him.

I am also not sure that a drop back to 7F at York is ideal and this race is very much a pivoting afterthought due to missing Sunday’s 1m Marois due to lameness (not exactly the ideal prep for running less than a week later either).

Oh dear……………the quote from Top Gun comes to mind

“Your mouth is writing cheques your body can’t cash”

Just replace the word mouth with trainer!

Does that now make him the 6th best miler in Europe – behind FOG, Lake Victoria and the three that finished in front of him there?

Hislop has just interviewed the trainer on RTV – Sean reported that the horse just didn’t travel the way he normally does. Not injury-related – the horse is perfectly sound. He’s disappointed, but they live to fight another day.

It was only when FOG had the setback that Richard came out with this
He was bricking it before the Sussex

I’ve a feeling a new trainer is on the horizon.

Had this race not been given G1 status already, I doubt this renewal would have advanced the case for making it one with just 3L covering the first seven home – the 7th horse (a 66-1 shot) being the lowest rated in the race at just 105.
