Oh wow. Very Herne the Hunter! That’s the sort of new band that I like to discover at Glastonbury. I bought all of GOATs cd’s after they appeared at Glastonbury a few years ago. I love that sort of music.

Been listening to Heilung this morning. Absolutely breathtaking, and about as far as one can get from the vacuous pop, rap and r’n’b drivel that dominates the charts these days.

Fylgija Futhorck is as stunning a piece of music as I have ever heard.

I have not seen them but it does show that there’s plenty of decent stuff out there if you look beyond the headliners.

Yes, Heilung are stunning musically and visually. Gives you goosebumps and makes you think.

Their live performance of Lifa is on utube. I listened to it this morning but did nod off as the dog has taken to wanting her breakfast even earlier than usual and I always fall asleep after I’ve fed her. GOAT are playing at Rock City later in the year and it really frustrates me that I’m far too old to go. I read that some of Heilungs music features in season six of Vikings. Johnnie Flynne is on tonight. His music is very much of the land and the past.

You’re never too old to go to gigs, moehat. I see people far older than me (and I’m 52) at goth gigs… some of them still get in the mosh pit!

My daughter just said that they were watching Royal Blood at Download and realised afterwards that Heilung were playing on another stage and, if they’d known they would have watched them instead as Royal Blood were pretty disappointing. She also said that Idles were unbelievable last night. I’m struggling today because my catchup tv isn’t working.

At Doncaster tonight: “Prepare to rock at the races with us as you enjoy an unforgettable evening of live music and racing as Doncaster Racecourse’s Summer Saturday Series presents the Indie Icons Racenight featuring The Kaiser Monkey Killers”.

As Sir Bob said on SSR, who needs Glastonbury? ;-)

Thanks for the info about SZA pronunciation Moehat. I have no idea who he/she/them is/are or what the music is like. I suspect I will hate it but I will check it out before dismissing it. Even if it’s not for me, I’ll be happy if it’s something original and/or interesting.

P.J. Harvey was brilliant as always. If I had been there I would probably have enjoyed Cyndi Lauper and Paul Heaton too. Caught a bit of Shania Twain earlier and she seemed to be entering into the spirit (though not really my cup of tea). I quite like Paloma Faith and Seasick Steve so would have gone to see them play together out of curiosity. I had never heard of The Idles but saw a couple of their songs and they looked interesting.

Pyramid stage acts have been largely bland and derivative, especially the headliners. That seems to be what the youngsters want though, which is depressing. I haven’t been for many years and nothing I have seen recently tempts me. The music is the least of reasons I can no longer face it.

Currently watching SZA and finding it very boring. Maybe it will get better? I watched Heilungs set on iplayer this afternoon and it was amazing.( I want to dress like that but think I’d struggle to fit the antlers into my Toyota Yaris). As were Lankum (we played here 6 years ago: we’ve improved since then: we’ve been practicing….love them!!!) Thinking back to when Levellers played the pyramid stage many years ago. I read that they pulled the biggest crowd in the history of the festival. Think I’ve got a video of it. I was bored with Billie Eilish the other year. PJ Harvey’s Let England Shake set from a few years ago is something I can watch over and over again ( I must admit to having a crush on Jean-Marc her drummer though). I’m going to see out SZAs set as I’m going to make a cake and watch it in the kitchen so if anyone, like me, feels like giving up on it I can tell them if it gets any better.I’m not holding out much hope. I can’t find Johnny Flynn’s set on catchup. Or Sam Lees ( although he did perform one of his songs on Friday ). They are both performers who encapsulate the spirit of Glastonbury to me so I’m disappointed that they’ve been largely ignored.
‘Nobody do body like you do’ current lyric. wtf….

Gave SZA a chance. It was awful. Sunday headliners have always been a bit 2nd rate (presumably to encourage people to leave early) but not usually so bad to drive them away!

The crowd (mostly girls it seems) are rapturously singing along to it, even though there doesn’t seem to be a tune to sing to.She’s now dressed like a butterfly (or fairy);and there’s a dung beetle wandering round the stage…

Far cry from when I used to go and saw The Prodigy, Pulp, Velvet Underground, The Pogues, Robert Plant, David Byrne etc etc. To be fair, I bet there are still some great acts performing on the smaller stages. I see James were playing today. Saw them walking round the site in muddy wellies back in the day and enjoyed their crowd pleasing set later. Lovely guys and proper festival band.

My SIL’s favourite band. But I’m still peeved with him for pulling out of a gig at the last minute this year when my lot had already set off to see him. He was saving his voice for a big London concert. Not sure if it was re scheduled.D.A.N.C.E. very good in BBC4

Fair enough. I wouldn’t forgive either.

Not my sort of thing at all but absolutely captivated by Justice’s set on BBC4. Never heard of them and certainly won’t be playing it at home but I would be going mad if I was there! Should have headlined.
