I’m very, very disappointed as I’ve not been looking forward to seeing a horse as much for many years.
Let’s hope we do see him this season somewhere.
May 4, 2007 at 08:34 #56647Sets a good precedent for the punter surely?
May 4, 2007 at 09:25 #56649Alright refunding all antepost bets was good PR for Paddy Power, its not a first for them, they have consistently been the first with money back offers and concessions to punters, with most other Irish Bookmakers following their lead. Truth is us Irish Punters are spoilt rotten compared what British Punters have to put up with from the so called big 3, their a disgrace and I can’t for the world of me understand why anyone would even back with them. I know some British Independents i.e Betfred offer good concessions, but that old cliche Punters are lazy is certainly true and the Big 3 will continue to offer poor value to their customers but their customers will keep coming back if it meant they had to walk a hundred yards less.
May 4, 2007 at 12:46 #56650I have a PP account and happily find them pretty competitive, but any idea that refunding the £75k is anything to do with pure generosity is laughable. Its superb publicity for a reasonable price. It they had to refund £7.5m, then i suspect the cost/benefit wouldnt have quite worked out….
Fair play to them, but lets not get starry eyed about this

Nobody doubts that it is publicity for the company but irrespective of their reasons, it is still good for punters who backed the horse and are getting their stake refunded.
If Powers, Lads, Corals, & Hills all offered the same antepost price about a horse, who would you bet with?
Press Release: The bookmaker Joker Al’s have responded to their rivals refunding singles on Teofilio with their own refunds on the horse. Their spokesman, Slimey Clare, explained the resoning behind their about turn, ‘We saw the response that Paddy Power’s concession generated and thought we would do something similar. We couldn’t decide whether to refund singles or multiples, so we decided to strike a happy medium by refunding single multiples. That is single bets on the horse to win multiple races.’ This is believed to be a reference to the 7/1 they were offering about the horse winning the triple crown.*
*full terms and conditions: the refund takes the form of a free bet (stake not included in returns), that can be used on any bet in the elvis/lochness/impossible horse feats specials section of our website. Winnings are non-withdrawable until they have been turned over 30 times.
Betfair!
:)
No… Powers definately…
Recently they just bunged a tenner in the online accounts because the "site hadnt been working properly". I had barely noticed that, but a tidy gesture that buys loyalty
The site is very easy to use too. Good with early price information as well
May 4, 2007 at 14:14 #56656He’s a genuinely likeable bloke as well Paddy Power when you see him interviewed.

Very much. Enjoyed the free Cheltenham preview CD’s given away with the star every year.
May 4, 2007 at 14:42 #56659Got home last night from watching my first child enter the world, and find that Teofilo was out. To say it ruined my day would be an over-exaggeration, but it certainly put a dampner on my mood.
Particularly after I’d announced her middle name was Teofilo!
May 4, 2007 at 14:44 #56660Congratulations and commiserations then AP!!
May 4, 2007 at 14:46 #56661I wouldn’t worry about it AP, you won’t be watching any racing for a while….
Congratulations, by the way
May 4, 2007 at 17:43 #56662Congratulations AP. The amount of racing replays you’ll get to see at 6am is unbelievable! And you’ll never know what you did with your spare time before now!
