It was 2 degrees C when I got to work this morning; eventually warmed up to @ 10 C….can I walk out if expected to work in such conditions?

I set up a Window cleaning round as a 15yo,being pretty naive i made the mistake of applying water to customers windows in sub zero temps so what was clear glass before suddenly turned opaque and my poor customers spent the next couple of days unable to see out of their windows! I would be halfway up my aluminium ladders and my hands would freeze to the ladder at times, not nice! Mind you confessions of a window cleaner spring to mind,Mrs Appleby at No 49 would always warm my cockles for me,she was a bug*er for lacing my coffee with rum! Memoirs of a King is on sale now!

 I’ve never forgot the time I did the same thing or the twice the ladder went down the wall with me holding on for dear life……

…forgot to mention that the loo was frozen yesterday as well, although I would assume that, when the body becomes hypothermic one doesn’t need such facilities any more. Oh, and my boss has a cosy little room with a fan and a halogen heater.

Did that once carrying a piece of glass up a ladder Nath, i looked like a rodeo rider!! Mind you once i was taking a window out for a customer with a huge fish tank next to it, this thing had been made by the customer himself and it wasn"t for moving,i reassured him it would be fine,i cut through the jambs of the frame and got the old crow bar in to lever them out and i slipped, crow bar straight through his fish tank,he"d only built the bloody thing out of toughened glass instead of laminate
so there"s an almighty explosion, water, fish, shipwrecks the lot all over his living room carpet, the only fish that died was a clown fish! I still cant face watching finding Nemo!

The stupidest thing I done was rushing around at the end of the day put the ladders back on the van went and popped a few bills in some letter boxes got back to the van and pulled off, drove the twenty metres or so to the junction at the end of the road put the breaks on only for the ladder to slide down the front of the van and scratch the bonnet, I had not tied the bloody thing on. Not funny…. :(

Another time in the summer this one house to get around the back you had to put the ladder up against a flat roofed garage pull the ladder up walk across the roof then slide the ladder back down into the garden. The patio door was open so I closed it to clean the door behind, only for it to lock and the customer a rather nice looking woman was sun bathing in the garden luckily for her she had her handbag with her which had the front door key in it but because she wasn’t impressed by my actions she didn’t seemed to trust me with it to go around and open the front and go and unlock the patio so she had to do it. Naturally I let her up the ladder 1st. That was funny…. :D

Nath,me and my old workmate had been hanging out a window one day to secure a tricky fit and it had made him feel sick.On the way home in the van he was complaining about throwing up,trouble was we were on a road where i just couldn"t pull over so i told him to wind the window down and stick his head out,he duly through up his guts,it sounded like he was dying but i couldn"t pull over, next thing i know, theres a black convertible sports car behind me flashing his lights and waving 2 fingers at me,all i could see was his wipers frantically trying to clean the sick off his windscreen, his bonnet was splattered. 5 minutes later my mate heaved up again just as this guy was peaking down my inside to see if it was all clear to pass us,this time the sick landed in this guys hair big time and i"m in hysterics,my mate is moaning at me for laughing but i couldn"t tell him what was so funny! This guy finally got his chance to pass us and i got the throat cut sign off him,he was covered! My mates face when he saw what he"d done made him throw up again! I"m actually P*ssing myself laughing as i recite that story!
