Sad day at Newbury for Tom George and connections…

Aiteen Thirtythree landed the GPG Novices’ Chase at Newbury as favourite Tell Massini suffered a fatal fall.

    quote from "The Antepost King"

Tell Massini sadly died today at Newbury,it wasn"t the worst looking fall in the world but his neck was buried underneath him as he slid across the ground,it was one of those slow motion events but he quickly got up so relief was quick that all was fine! Unfortunately not! Sometimes you see a horse fall and your gut reaction is Oh No! On this occassion i thought Oh Yes he"s fine,it just shows you how dangerous jumping fences can be a stark reminder to myself that you just cant take things for granted at this game,i was picturing this fellow running in the 2012 Gold Cup! Not to be i"m afraid! Very sad day for all concerned!

I’m absolutely gutted, a very likeable horse, with so much ability.

    RIP Tell Massini.

Terrible news; was listening to the race on racingradio and assumed that he was ok, so it was a shock to see his name here. RIP.

Really upset about Tell Massini – when one of the less big stables loses a star it seems that much worse. And this was a horse with serious potential.

Gutted for everyone at the Tom George yard.

Very sorry to hear this. A bitterly cold day at Newbury will probably only stay in the memory for this.

Occasionally you get the feeling something bad`s about to happen and it occurred to me when Brennan looked round on the far side.

A couple of women watching at the rails recoiled in horror at the fall and I`m very sad at the outcome.

Particularly sorry for the bloke leading him round yesterday – seemed a real gent.
