Fine old stalwart who`s been to most of the big days, not being risked further. Hope he has a nice retirement.
Francome once said of him that it was rare to see a chaser with such slack pasterns. I was too ignorant to know what he meant and never did find out.

November 17, 2015 at 19:08 #1222073Probably the first horse I ever followed due to the Soccer AM ownership back in the day.
I wonder how much better he would have been with tight pasterns?
November 17, 2015 at 20:17 #1222082Teaforthree was a genuine sort, stayed all day and a super jumper; making ground at most fences. Had my eye on him as a Grand National prospect from mid-way through his novice year and even further when victorious in the National Hunt Chase at 2012 Cheltenham Festival. Went close in the Welsh National, failing by just 1/2 length to give Monbeg Dude 1 stone 2 lbs, 11 lengths clear of the third. 10/1, came out the best horse at the weights at Aintree. 9 1/4 lengths third to Auroras Encore, jumping accurately until only mistake at the last probably costing second. Liked racing prominently, didn’t look happy racing behind horses when falling at the Chair folowing year.
I backed Teaforthree in all of those races. One of my favourites.
One of TFT’s owners is or was a TRFer.
Can’t remember his name now, but got a pm when he saw what I’d written about this horse in a Grand National preview.Value Is EverythingNovember 17, 2015 at 21:38 #1222104Happy retirement to Teaforthree. Also to Champion Court, retired today due to a leg injury (though doesn’t sound too serious). Cheltenham won’t seem the same without him but I’m at least glad that he won’t be going round that cross country course again. I didn’t think he looked like he was enjoying that at all on Friday
