Of all the horses to come out this season Tariq has been one of my favourites and I am of the belief that he is possibly the best 7f horse around in Europe at the moment. Hopefully he will prove that at the Prix de la Foret this weekend and I for one will be steaming in.

US Rangers facile success at the weekend has only served to bolstered my opinion and convictions and I think this will be one of my biggest bets of the season.

Anyone got an opinion or willing to shoot me down!!

I thought US Ranger was going to be the best 7-furlong colt in Europe this season and was amazed at how easily Tariq disposed of him in the Jersey Stakes at RA.

Agree he’s been impressive, as this race is often messy and couldn’t be sure the best horse will win. Very strong line up too.

What price do you forecast Tariq to be?

I don’t know to be honest – But since that performance in the Jersey Stakes i’ve been convinced that it will take a very serious horse to beat him.. Considering that he took a while to get out in the Jersey the way he went past US Ranger was frightening.

As I haven’t seen the final decs yet its difficult to guess but I will be surprised if he’s not favourite. The rumours about Chappel-Hyams yard don’t exactly boost my confidence but he’s won me a few quid this year and i’m hopeful he’s going to win me some more..

Anyone agree the Jersey needs an upgrade in Status?

There would be nothing wrong with increasing the level of pattern races at 7F, imo.

Just had a look at the card – The biggest dangers are Dutch Art (Is he really going to run them against each other?), Jeremy and US Ranger who he disposed of easily last time..

I would expect him to be 2/1 or less if Dutch Art doesn’t run.. But i’m no expert at making books..

I’ll lay you 2/1 all day!
What about Linngari, beaten a whisker in this last year and Vital Equine, second in the Guineas, to name but two.
Ground conditions and the final make up of the field will decide the market but he won’t be that short and is unlikely to even be favourite.

It seems Tariq is miles better than his dad (kylachy) and i wouldnt back against him in any race from 7 to a mile.I actually think he would get up to ten furlongs with his stlye of racing and undoubted class.A freak by Kylachy or the dawn of a great stud career? Either way,I’ll be getting the biggest price on him for the Foret and paying for xmas.Good luck to  all that back him.

Really?!!! Nothing on BF and I tend not to look much further than that – Who’s offering that price TDK?

    From Chappel-Hyam’s website:

Peter Chapple-Hyam is very much looking forward to now rolling the dice at Group 1 level with the flashy chestnut. The trainer said: “I think Tariq is in the best form he’s ever been in – better than at Goodwood. But he will have to be as it’s a better race. I’m happy as there looks to be plenty of pace in the race which will suit Tariq. We will be able to ride a normal race on him."

If he’s better than when he won the Jersey he really will be difficult to beat. Personally I don’t think its that strong a race for a G1… Maximum bet for me – That happens about once a year..

“It will give me a lot of pleasure if he were able to win a Group 1 as he is such an honest horse.â€

The clue is in the poster, the odds are with Coral, who I hope will pay for their tasty 10/1 about Linngari….

With the switch to Ballydoyle I’d expect US Ranger to be far better equipped to deal with Tariq second time around. His victory over six furlongs at the weekend was extremely impressive, not least because he was dropped in rather than allowed to dictate, and looked slightly outpaced three furlongs from home.

Given the lead, over seven furlongs, he’ll be tough to beat.

a couple of things really…switching to ballydoyle may have bought improvement but i cant say US Ranger was that impressive considering the opposition, which werent up to much at all.AS you say too,he seemed to be out paced 3 out which is not good .Tariq wouldnt have been out paced at any point against that lot and is crying out for a mile.Tariq is speedier, stays further and would have every move covered. Also if US Ranger is ridden from the front,i’ll pay you ten times his s.p.!!

I prefer the latter but you will need some basic French to get around the site, the other two have English versions!

I must have missed Marchand D’Or the first time I looked at this.. He would be a big danger but i’m still gonna steam in. Looks a really good race.

I love this weekends racing, possibly the best of the year…
