An example of why it’s often best to take the price has happened to me this morning. The horse I decided to back is called Eager Igor ( has some good form a few runs ago ) in the 7:40 Sandown and was available at 33’s with some bookies and 35’s on BF. Unfortunately the greedy side of me took over and I decided to wait and ask for odds of 45’s on BF.

Ten mins later this horse is been backed everywhere ( I assume some telephone tipster has recommended it – I hate them ) and the bookies 33’s and the 35’s on BF goes and I am rushing around the internet trying to get best odds – 25’s with PP goes to 16’s before I get on…… and then a similar story with WH.

I ended up taking 20’s. The horse will probably still lose but it’s an example of why early odds should be taken if they are considered good value in my opinion.
