Salisbury 5.45, Invent drifts from 13.0 to 33.0 and was never put in the race. Expect to see him bolting up anytime soon.
June 26, 2011 at 17:13 #362636If they’re concealing his ability they’re doing a bl**dy good job of it.
June 26, 2011 at 18:40 #362646Given that the field ended up strung out like washing, the chances are most of them are very slow. The winner is progressive at this lowly level.
Far from being ‘not put into the race’ Invent was held up in touch with the pace to halfway, but then found littles when the pace increased. This is pretty much the same as previous race where, over trips from 7f to 11f, he’s weakened from two out.

June 27, 2011 at 22:14 #362697Invent is listed in Mark Howard’s book on page 21. He states he was advised to include him when he went to Newmarket in February. Perhaps he is that bad, but the jockey didn’t even try on him. Watch his previous outing over 11f. Seb came with a lovely move down the outside but just didn’t stay.
June 28, 2011 at 11:47 #362730I had a look at the form for
Invent
.
1. This horse follows the profile of a typical Sir Mark Prescott horse i.e. four quick runs to get a handicap mark of
63
.
2. The problem is that the handicapper has given the horse about 15lb+ over what he has achieved so far and alotted a handicap mark of63
.
3. His true mark should be around48
in my book.
4. The handicapper has already dropped the horse 6lb’s to57
, we are nearly getting there.
5. If the horse had no ability he wouldn’t be in the yard.
6. When the horse’s rating has dropped another 10lb he will win and run up a sequence.I agree with Zarkava’s statement
July 6, 2011 at 08:43 #363717I see that the handicapper has dropped
Invent
a further 4lb to a new mark of
53
.
He is now on a handicap mark which he can win off
July 6, 2011 at 09:11 #363721If he’s now from a mark he can win off, presumably at Salisbury he was on a mark that still should have seen him finish closer than 35 lengths behind the winner?
July 6, 2011 at 09:12 #363722Seems the trainer doesn’t think the lower handicap mark will help, as he’s put Invent into a 0-60 claimer over 12F at Wolverhampton next Monday.

July 6, 2011 at 11:00 #363730I spoke to Sir Mark a while back and he picked this horse out and said it will be a handicap job.
July 12, 2011 at 08:12 #364362Is today the day for
Invent
8.00 Yarmouth.
Somebody is interested 3rd favourite at 13/2
July 12, 2011 at 08:45 #364363This one looks quite tricky as Dubawi Dancer is a strong favourite. Probably they won’t want to finish second or third with Invent as that might raise his mark.
As a betting strategy it might be a good idea to back Invent for a win and lay for a place.
July 12, 2011 at 12:10 #364395I’m not sure today is the day. I think the strategy Kasparov mentions is a good way to go. I have no doubt in my mind that when they start trying on Invent, he’ll win. No 2nds or 3rds, he’ll win.
July 12, 2011 at 15:15 #364430I have been watching the betting during the day and
Invent
is being quietly backed, down to 4/1 in a couple of places.
The price has moved by 2.73% during the day on Oddschecker so if today is not the day, somebody is going to be disappointed

You have to keep the faith, I lost my lucky rabbit’s foot
July 12, 2011 at 18:01 #364446Could just be blind punting by those who think today might be the day. I’ll keep a close eye on the market 10 minutes before the race and see what happens. Last time he drifted 20 points in the hour leading up to the race…
July 12, 2011 at 18:53 #364453Based on the betting for the past 50 minutes, I very much doubt today is the day. Not having a bet.
July 12, 2011 at 18:57 #364454From 7.0 to 9.4 in 10 minutes. No chance. Doubt his name will even be mentioned. Stick him out the back, Seb, and leave him there.
July 12, 2011 at 18:57 #364455Now 10.0 with a massive plunge on the Haggas favourite.
