Ralph Beckett is having a good day
July 30, 2025 at 15:12 #1737208Richard Kingscote beats Field Of Gold. ;o)
July 30, 2025 at 15:12 #1737209Lol…..all credit to Kingscote who had a look behind him when Serengetti came past him and he eased him back off the leader to save some energy, that won him the race.
FOG looked a bit lifeless when asked to pick up and it was mentioned that he looked a bit light behind the saddle so maybe just had an off day or the performance at Royal Ascot took more out of him.
Questions to answer now and it has thrown the mile division a bit up in the air
July 30, 2025 at 15:13 #1737210Um…did he just admit on telly that he would have stopped riding if Field of Gold had got upsides?

Charles Darwin to conquer the World
July 30, 2025 at 15:14 #1737212Sounds like it!
July 30, 2025 at 15:14 #1737213That’s how to ride a pacemaker!
Value Is EverythingJuly 30, 2025 at 15:20 #1737214Did I hear Kingscote right (on ITV)?
Think he said “When I saw the other horse wasn’t a grey I kept him going”.
Remember Kingscote’s ride in the Lingfield Derby Trial.
Value Is EverythingJuly 30, 2025 at 15:23 #1737215Yes that’s what he said.
July 30, 2025 at 15:26 #1737216If only Kieran Shoemark had ridden Quirat, would have made the interview with Gosden very interesting
July 30, 2025 at 15:29 #1737218The winning groom was the only one on the podium who looked to have pure uncomplicated delight that his horse had won a G1
July 30, 2025 at 15:29 #1737219Buick definitely over-confident for me a couple of furlongs out
July 30, 2025 at 15:31 #1737220Couldn’t have happened to a better stable. Delighted for the Beckett stable and Richard Kingscote.
July 30, 2025 at 15:32 #1737221Every now and then these things do happen but I would really hope that the Stewards would want a word for those other jockeys – was actually gobsmacked when Weaver suggested this should happen as he said that if this was an appentice race and the same thing happened the Stewards would for sure be having a word with those jockeys who let the leaders go like that.
Winner official rated 102 and carried 9-8 in the Hunt Cup (5th top weight) so its not like he was a complete rag to be given that much rope and he was racing well within himself on the front before Serengeti came flying past him to which Kingscote then took a pull on him. Incidentally he now extends his unbeaten record at Goodwood to 3.
Sectionals will be interesting to see as I think it just might show that Kingscote did a very good job pace wise and that the other jockeys got it badly wrong and should be called out just as much as when they ride a good race.
By the way this is now a second pace making cock-up from Team Ballydoyle following on from the King George.
July 30, 2025 at 15:44 #1737223Aside from all else, once again the O’Brien tactics in a Group 1 were stunningly sh*te.
Qirat went a decent but sustainable pace and kept up the gallop, the second put in a sound effort to get so close as he saw off his main rivals with a bit to spare.
July 30, 2025 at 15:44 #1737224Why is a cock up
for coolmore?July 30, 2025 at 15:55 #1737229“If only Kieran Shoemark had ridden Quirat, would have made the interview with Gosden very interesting”
Doubt very much Qirat would have won if Shoemark had ridden him.
