Little known fact – going into the Deloitte Novices at the five day decs stage, Dunguib wasn’t the highest rated horse in the field judged on Racing Post Ratings.
March 10, 2010 at 17:15 #281518David – how could he run in a handicap without an official rating? Confused!
March 10, 2010 at 17:21 #281519The handicapper will publish the rating when the horse is entered for a handicap.
Then the rating becomes public knowledge.
I should warn you that I’m talking from memory here and I am a bit sketcy on the details.
Hopefully another forumite can either confirm or ridicule my memory!
March 10, 2010 at 17:25 #281520So rating only becomes published once entered for a handicap? Thats odd if true.
Could have saved the handicapper some grief on the flat if that is the case, for example Hawk Wing was never entered for the Bunbury Cup as far as i know!
Not questioning you but sounds very odd.

Do you have the rating for FOR BILL?
Enetered against Morning Supreme on Sunday, I’m looking at a fairly large bet

The first real test of For Bill looking forward to that CS. Should be a good one…
March 11, 2010 at 21:33 #281794Will be backing GMOOH with Paddypowers. Might have a bit on Oscar Whiskey or Blackstairsmountain too. If Dunguib goes 6/4 I will lump on
I thought he was going to start 2/5?

Menorah is interesting, Johnson went too fast, too soon at Ascot. Gave 10lbs to the winner Lush Life who came from a long way back. Even so, would’ve won but for another jockey error, taking it too easy coming in to the last (mistake) and unable to recover in time. On penultimate start won a novice hurdle at Kempton. Beat Bellvano 12 lengths getting 3lbs in a time faster than Go Native’s Christmas Hurdle.
I always look at the horse with the highest Topspeed rating for these 2m hurdles and Menorah has a Topspeed of 156 compared to 153 to GMOOH and 152 for Dunguib.
Do any of the time experts have a view on Menorah’s time at Kempton compared to Go Native’s in the Christmas Hurdle?
March 11, 2010 at 22:03 #281798It wasn’t Johnson’s finest hour, but I got the feeling that the horse got a bit stuck in the going.
March 12, 2010 at 00:13 #281815Menorah is simply not good enough. Pulls too hard and wants a flat track. Kempton and Cheltenham are chalk and cheese and in any case Bellvano has subsequently shown that he is no worldbeater.
The choice for punters is very easy you either lump on Dunguib at a short price or back Get Me Out Of Here with Paddy Power.
March 12, 2010 at 00:22 #281818How do you rate the Mullin’s pair Stilvi?
March 12, 2010 at 08:40 #281835How do you rate the Mullin’s pair Stilvi?
They have no chance against the front two based on all racecourse evidence. Anyone backing either is just guessing.

Hi Stilvi
My specific question was about Menorah’s time compared to the time achieved by Go Native in the Christmas Hurdle. Are they in any way comparable?
March 12, 2010 at 10:56 #281850An interesting statistic about Dunguib’s form is that the horses who finished behind him in his last two runs have subsequently failed to win a single race between them. Even if you include his first two runs in hurdles there are only three subsequent winners from those races – Lou’s Coole Girl who won a maiden hurdle and was subsequently alloted a handicap mark of 110; Puyol who won a handicap off 126 and Steviemac who won three handicaps but the last of those wins was only off a mark of 106 and has subsequently failed to win off his revised mark of 116
