6 grade 1’s culminating in the final race of the triple crown. Had a mixed day yesterday, decided against backing Chilli Filli (easy winner), backed Joey O’Brien’s American Sonja (Awful Dettori ride) but reclaimed on Thorpedo Anna (easy).
Gone for a couple tonight, first up 2108 Jaipur Stakes, COGBURN 3/1 has c+d grade 3 form, won a grade 2 last time nicely, personally thought the Appleby filly was a bit short and could flash home too late.
The Appleby one I do like is in the 2236 Manhattan Stakes, MEASURED TIME (3/1 here) ran as well as could be expected for a pretty hot group 1 race in Dubai but also had a saver on Chad Brown’s PROGRAM TRADING who did well to fend off another of Appleby’s in a grade 1 last month.2108 – Cogburn 3/1
2236 – Measured Time 3/1 + Program Trading 4/1 with a forecast.June 8, 2024 at 18:14 #1697394Why has a handicap worth £433,000 to the winner only got 6 runners in it?
June 8, 2024 at 18:45 #1697397Running scared of the fav or that’s just a normal amount to these guys. 50k to the winner of allowance claiming races, no idea what standard that would equate to over here.
June 8, 2024 at 22:40 #1697428They’re running a bit behind. I’ll try Al Riffa in this next race.
June 8, 2024 at 22:44 #1697429Cogburn Measured Time double has turned my frustrating day around
June 8, 2024 at 22:46 #1697430Never travelled a yard and only got going, sort of, quite late. Winner was very good.
Saratoga is pretty. I like the hedge. I sometimes watch the odd hurdle race that they stick into the card, when I remember or when Miss Woodford reminds me
June 8, 2024 at 22:47 #1697431Well done Chivers, nice double.
June 8, 2024 at 22:53 #1697432Thanks. There’s a grade 1 hurdle there tomorrow at 1750, Danny Mullins has travelled over to ride.
