I said it after the 2000, when Ryan was shipped off for Mendleson stateside and missed a classic winner. Aiden is certainly looking after his son. G2 & G1 wins already today at Newmarket, with Ten Sovereigns still to come… Whilst Mendleson preps for the classic. I think Ryan is getting the short straw here, and daddy is making sure his sons one or two years riding are memorable.

    I bet Ryan is screwing.

Ten Sovereigns looks very good. Let’s hope Mendleson does the business for Ryan tonight

Mendleson has now cost him three G1 wins this year.

And O’Brien just commented on ITV that Mendleson was not even supposed to be running tonight, an extra race to the plans as Mendleson was so well…

I bet Ryan is double screwing, it just looks so whiffy to me.

Prices on Ryan being back at Stoutes next year?

I think Ryan will be out of Ballydoyle at the end of the season. Donnacha has been getting on plenty of the better rides this season, and with Stoute on the up-turn again I think he will at least be free-lance if not back at his old job.

Mendelssohn finished 3rd, behind (in terms of fellow BC Classic entries) Thunder Snow but ahead of Diversify and Gronkowski:

doubt that Ryan is that upset – Nov 3 surely is a bigger deal for a guy wanting to achieve even more internationally (particulary in the US) than (relatively) another couple of penalty-kicks at Newmarket ? and the Kentucky Derby attempt was more challenging than another Guineas.

plus he walked into Ballydoyle knowing that the lads had green-lighted a few years ago APOB looking after his own boys for their brief riding careers (remember that media flare-up around APOB leaving?). hardly a secret – interviewed yesterday as to what is his greatest strength as a jockey, Donnacha wryly replied “being APOB’s son”.

I disagree Wit, I don’t think he’ll be happy at all. He’s had a nice taste of being called the worlds greatest jockey. He went to APOB to win G1’s, that’s not happening anymore. I think APOB like you say holds a lot of cards here, and Ryan is getting the short straw. Yes I’m sure he’d love to win the classic, but his bread and butter is slipping away, APOB’s son is stealing all of the limelight at Ballydoyle without question. This will sit okay with ‘the lads’, as they don’t care as long as the gravy train continues, and that’s APOB in a nutshell. It will sit very well with APOB himself, who would not want this for their son? The only person it will not be sitting well with, is Ryan Moore I’ll bet.

Can’t see that relationship lasting long at all now myself. I make you right about the lot Degaussed.

I could easily see Frankie calling it a day at the end of this or next season (what a shame that will be), and Ryan heading off to Gosden’s. There doesn’t seem to be a ready-made replacement for Frankie as Havlin isn’t going to be #1 jock, and many of the other good jockeys are already in top jobs.

Limelight’s the last thing Moore wants, judging by his past behaviour. Nor will he be short of cash. He’s just past his 35th birthday and what really matters to him now can be expected to dominate his behaviour. He’s made no secret about wanting to have more success in America. I doubt that this desire is founded on a wish for fame or more money; he’ll want to master American racecraft and beat the best jockeys riding there.

That’s not to deny he might be on his way out of Ballydoyle. And a post-Frankie Gosden link up would be very interesting.

Moore’s time is limited now as Donnacha O’Brien has shown enough progress to get the number 1 job when the time comes. Joey wasn’t the best jockey around yet was at a standard sufficient to be the number 1.
In 23 years time the greatest jockey of all time Rossa Ryan will be made redundant to the grandson or daughter of Aidan if they are deemed to be on the level.

As Les Dennis would say welcome to family fortunes
we surveyed 100 people and asked them who will be Aidan’s number 1 in 2019
    you said Ryan Moore

If there was six Group 1’s yesterday Moore would of still gone to the USA in my opinion. Mendelsshon is a massively important horse for the future given his breeding.

Pity he gave Mendelssohn such a poor ride…

Unless anyone is privy to what is going on behind the scenes then we are all surmising here. My guess is that everything is fine between Moore and APOB. The Kentucky Derby is now seen as the Holy Grail for ‘the lads’, and Moore is also on record as saying it’s the race he’d now like to win most of all. This is why he went to Churchill Downs instead of partnering Saxon Warrior at Newmarket. Yesterday’s visit was their continued attempt to make Mendolsohn into the horse he visually looked to be in Dubai, and with the BC Classic in mind -though it now appears that like many that win at that meeting, they tend to look better than they really are.

I believe that Moore had the chance to be the number one over Joseph but with Workforce being kept in training he wanted the best of both worlds and would not commit. Moore was on the wrong one in the Oaks when the ground turned testing but it seems clear to me that he is definitely the number one rider and will continue as such in 2019. Donnacha has only just turned 20 and won’t be able to keep on top of the scales for much longer, maybe not even as long as Joseph who only lasted until he was 22.

Gosden link up after Frankie goes is interesting, and that would link him up in a way with Sheik Mo for the first time.

No one has mentioned Godolphin, could that be where he ends up eventually? I bet Bin Surror would love him, but he just does not have the horses.Buick and Appleby are pretty rock solid, but If Sheik Mo decides it’s what he wants, I suppose nothing like that will matter.

I’m pretty certain he will not be at Ballydoyle next year.

Godolphin would love him, but then I can’t think of a single operation that wouldn’t love him and I suspect Ballydoyle won’t appreciate what they had with him until he’s gone (and vice-versa, for that matter).

Why is there a problem because he went to america

Long term plan, with the same jockey on board

Donnacha wont be riding next season..

If ryan so desired he could have remained in the uk, if there was anything behind the scenes why on earth would they rush him all the way back to ireland today when donnacha was already there….

Mendy off to Kentucky at the end of the year, so his stud fee far more important than a few group races at Newmarket.

You suspect Ten Sovereigns, who was odds-on for the Middle Park remember, guaranteed his place anywway.

I suspect Aidan has a burning desire to do much better across the pond.

There’s no way Donnacha ever becomes the number one at Ballydoyle – he’s way too tall to be a flat jockey and has a maximum of one season left in him.
