Don’t worry about us ending up in rags Gamble, the Scots have been instumental
in new initiatives, infrastructure and finance all over the world. I think we’ll
    get by my friend :good:

One thing I will add is that it sticks in my craw that Scotland hasn’t voted for
a Tory Government since 1955, and yet we repeatedly get saddled with them.
Such as Thatcher of the would be Poll Tax, Cameron with his austerity and then
Johnson’s utter madness with Brexit. Scotland didn’t want any of these and yet
we have no say, they are imposed on us. I can hear the “but you’re part of
the United Kingdom” card about to be played by a few. Put simply, we don’t
want the Tories, but can’t escape them.

I was sitting at a table with George Hamilton once and had no desire to speak with him because I mistakenly thought we had nothing to my mind in common. I think I made a mistake there…

Big mistakes though are hard to rectify.

I see where you are coming from Big G and yes it may be difficult at first – the Everley brothers called it the price of love. But really you don’t feel that much love and Peter and Gordon are even more off track. My minds murky at nearing 0430

    ” We didn’t burn him ”

    ” Big G will more strangers come ? ”

” Calm yourself ground , no more will come ”

Why the Tories don’t venture North

“The Wicker Chezza” is one of the all-time Classic movies.

Christopher Lee is superb playing the role of Chezza, while Edward Woodward is brilliant in the role of Hughesey, as is Britt Eckland, who plays Chezza’s council estate bird, Karen.

Refreshing to see a movie with a happy ending!

Unuonists will be delighted if Yousaf wins. It appears he has learned nothing from Sturgeon’s downfall and will double down on all her mistakes.

Amazing that she won so many elections, and has decimated all the other parties……

It looks to me as if Kate Forbes is doing her best to rule herself out. I can’t say I blame her. She is a young woman with a young family. Does she really need the grief that would inevitably come her way from a substantial amount of the SNP’s activists? Let Yousaf be responsible for the SNP’s decline.

All governments run out of luck eventually, BigG. The SNP has been dominant for 20 years or so. But independence looks a distant prospect and long overdue questions are being asked about its record in government. And the opinion polls show Labour running neck and neck with it.

It looks like this leadership election is going to expose the split in the SNP which has hitherto been largely hidden. The left wing Yousaf is from has very little in common with the socially conservative people like Forbes bar the dream of independence.

The SNP leadership debate was quite entertaining. Ferrets in a sack might have treated each other more kindly.

Kate Forbes said of her main rival:

“Humza you’ve had a number of jobs in government. When you were Transport Minister, the trains were never on time. When you were Justice Minister, the police were strained to braking point. Now, as Health Minister, we’ve got record high waiting times.”

Remind me again, she is actually in the SNP, right? Because it sounds like she is doing a far better job of trashing her party’s record in government than the useless Scottish Conservatives ever have.

Support for independence at 39% in a recent poll and the SNP has lost 40% of its members since 2019, 30,000 of them in the last year alone.

That does not look like a scenario where independence is going to happen any time soon.
