One of the highlights of “Glorious Goodwood”, and William Hill already have it priced up….

I always give Justanotherbottle a strong word, and as per, he’s a strong fancy again. I’ve suspected since his seasonal debut that they might head back here, after his narrow defeat last year, and we should know more after Saturday, when he could line up in The Sunbet Handicap at York. He’s already 2lbs lower here, and he’s very easy to make a case for.
Very early to be looking st this in depth right now, but another who I think has a big race in him is Vintage Brut. Perhaps ground dependent, and maybe high enough on overall achievements, but this is a horse who’s going to nab a decent prize, and he’d be interesting at a price if this was the plan. He’s another who’s out this weekend, entered in The Chipchase at Newcastle, and I was sorely tempted by the 33’s for him there.
Those are my two at the moment, though it goes without saying, that the shortlist will lengthen considerably over the next few weeks.
Early fancies
Justanotherbottle 20’s
Vintage Brut 33’sJune 27, 2019 at 02:56 #1447048One of my favourites this is Bobby, but it’s still a way off and only a few have
priced it up. I’m very tempted to take a chance on Mr Lupton at 20/1.
He would be carrying top weight, but there have been plenty winners of this at
the top end of the weights. He looks to be getting better with age. Won as he
liked last tail end at Newbury and followed that up with a close 2nd in a listed
race at Ascot. It was the way he won when he came back out in May this year in a
Group 2 race at the Curragh that really impressed me. Jamie Spencer sat out back,
as he usually does, but looked so confident throughout and when he pressed the button
he coasted to victory. He was worth much more than the 3/4L he won by. I think he’s
better than a handicapper, and if he does head here he would have a great chance.I also would be quite keen to have a few quid on Watchable at 40/1.
I was a little disappointed with him in the Wokingham last time out. He looked like
he might blaze his way to glory from the off, but he just tired in the last furlong
and faded back into the pack. He looked in great order before that, and if the likes
of Mr Lupton stay in he’ll run off a nice weight of about 8-10.I haven’t bet either yet, but I’ll keep a close eye on the market in case either
starts to shorten.June 30, 2019 at 13:24 #1447340Nice prep For Justanotherbottle yesterday, and if they can get him to Goodwood in the same nick as last year, he should be coming here a few pounds better off.
Tempted, but holding off.
July 4, 2019 at 13:04 #1447553Weights out….
Justanotherbottle confirmed as having this as the target, so I’ll have a small go at the 25’s just now. I’ll have a good go nearer the time.
Justanotherbottle 25’s
July 29, 2019 at 13:57 #1449705Moneys came early for your hoss, Bobby

My fancy –
Khaadem 14/1
Charlie Hills won this with Magical Memory as a 3YO and can do a repeat with this beast. Should’ve won LTO but had to be switched badly and Jim went a little late on him also and by that time the German horse was gone. Fast pace here will suit this strong traveller and think he can make the 3YO weight concession pay.
July 29, 2019 at 16:59 #1449727Yeah, so far so good Kev, fingers crossed. Good luck with Khaadem.
Looking at the backups, and still keen on Vintage Brut, while I’m also interested in Scottish Stewards Cup Winner Air Raid.
I’ll definitely add the pair of them if they are declared.
August 1, 2019 at 10:26 #1450171Arecibo looks a big price in this at 33-1 with Frankie Dettori booked.
GL with him Kris, he wont be that price by post time
August 1, 2019 at 15:54 #1450207Botchy, I know you’ve liked him for this for a while now, but the bad news for you and Kris, is that with Vintage Brut not going, I’ve taken that 33’s myself. I hope I don’t jinx you.
Still all about Justanotherbottle though, and he’s by some way my biggest bet of the season so far now. Arecibo at 33’s should give me a good trading opportunity to cut losses beforehand as well, as I’ve went win only.
Air Raid I haven’t bet yet, but he’ll be a win saver.
Some line up this year.
August 1, 2019 at 18:53 #1450232STONE OF DESTNIY 28/1 and GROWL 20/1 bets for me
August 2, 2019 at 07:33 #1450269No time to explain because I’ll need to get to work and been up since 5.30am looking at the race. I’ve joined you guys with Arecibo I can’t explain the 33/1 looks madness.
I expect I’ll be able to get any price I like on El Hombre so I’ll be holding fire on him but he ran a very nice race after a break in the Gosforth Park Cup over a trip too short and fast ground 6F would be his ideal conditions on turf, he’s got no weight at all either and I think an okay draw. He’s 50/1 in places which looks worth a go but I might get bigger on exchanges so I’ll wait and see as he comes from an unfashionable yard up north.
August 2, 2019 at 12:15 #1450293The Arecibo Express has departed the station. Choooo Chooooo !
August 2, 2019 at 21:18 #1450330I’ve came down to Gunmetal here as the second selection at 12-1.
August 2, 2019 at 21:21 #1450331After mojito”s flop today I need a pick me up! Flavius Titus/Gunmetal to win and a couple of big prices each way stone of destiny//true mason
August 3, 2019 at 09:39 #1450393Gunmetal to win at 12-1, and with 7 places with Skybet, Growl ew at 20-1.
August 3, 2019 at 10:15 #1450399My 2 are…
Khaadem 9-1 ew 5 places. A group horse in a handicap well worth a bet.
Lake Volta 16-1 ew 7 places. I notice there is a gamble going on for this one as we speak. Not surprised. Too soft last time, has course form, and looks feasibly treated enough to run well.
Good luck with the lottery.
August 3, 2019 at 10:42 #1450412Went with Raucous in the end 50’s 5 places on exchange rather than El Hombre, he’s 2lbs wrong under his penality but I wasn’t expecting that big a price given the form he’s in and he’s gone close in the race previously, ran really well in the Wokingham. Drawn in 18 which I think is close enough to plenty of potential pace angles – Ornate (15), Vanbrugh (16), Air Raid (12) Justanotherbottle (9) is a bit lower but I expect he’ll be able to tag onto that group easy enough. Young Fallon junior would be quite the story winning this and he’s building up quite the relationship with this horse. Worth noting claiming jockey’s filled 3 of the first 4 home last year from 8 claiming jockeys riding in the race including the top 2, might be nothing but could be an angle worth looking into going forwards with these massive field handicaps if history repeats itself
August 3, 2019 at 12:07 #1450433He’s not my luckiest jockey Ryan Moore (ran a shocker on Vivionn on Wednesday) but I think
he has to have a good shout on Summerghand at 12s. Just in case the hoodoo
with Mr Moore carries on I’m also having a few quid on Open Wide at 16/1.
He’ll need them to part like the red sea late on because he’s going to be out the back, but
if he gets the luck he could fly through late and land this. - AuthorPosts
