Anyone else addicted to this beast of a game?
I managed to break my addiction somewhat and stayed clear for a few months due to being busy with work, family, etc. However recently found myself hooked again!
My best effort to date saw me build a 20 strong stable in 4 seasons, the fourth season resulted in a few places at the festival, but my main aim was to win the National with my stable star ‘Ayr Time’ he surprisingly due to his name was an Ayr specialist and had won the previous two Scottish Nationals for me, so I’d entered him in the big one at Aintree.
He had a nice weight after me sending him over hurdles for most the season and had a decent partner in stable jockey Daryl Jacob. So the race came and coming down to the last good old Ayr Time was half a dozen lengths clear with the race at his mercy coming down to the last when disaster struck … he went right through the last and poor Daryl Jacob hit the deck!
I admit I did shout expletives as he hit the deck, my partner who is definitely not a SO’s fan had taken no interest in the game until that point but maybe sensing my excitement coming down to the last had started to watch and made matters worst by laughing at Ayr Time falling. This was some time ago but the memory still haunts me to this day and I’m still yet to get any closer to winning the National!
Yes I know, I need to get out more!!

This game really is the archetypal ‘must-have’ for racing fans and is highly recommended – but be warned, it’s incredibly addictive, as you can imagine; so put the kettle on, give the cat 3 bowls of food, write the milkman a note and enjoy.
My feeling is if you did have a cat
it might be feasible to get on with
the game
I have been donated some plastic
chair covers and a hostess trolley
with a dent in it. The place is fairly
dust free but today I have bought plastic
padding and duck tape and tried damming
up a leaking radiator. Hours wasted
and the drip still haunts me. I
would have been better off going
to a pet shop and putting my head
in a fish tank.

Is this your first visit to the lounge, Mrs. Hughes?
November 20, 2013 at 17:45 #459133Thanks for the reviews Danny and gamble…I think.
I have played more than 20 seasons on Starters Orders 4 – all flat-only since I couldn’t work the jumping controls. My best horse was five-time Ascot Gold Cup winner Animal Magic, who needed the Kid Cassidy extreme waiting tactics.
Delivering the 10-year-old from 25 lengths back to win his fifth Gold Cup was electric. I felt like buying champagne!
Anyway, Starters Orders 5 sounds even better. This will be on my Christmas list for sure.
November 25, 2013 at 16:58 #459777Is the much difference between SO4 and SO5? Have SO4 on an old machine that over heats after about 10 minutes so rarely play it.
November 29, 2013 at 10:27 #4601315 is a bit of an upgrade on 4 it is slightly better but I’d probably hold fire on buying it as their bringing a new one out in March!

The above video features Frankel vs Black Caviar!
December 4, 2013 at 21:44 #460791Ooo, that looks quite good. The graphics are slowly improving with each new version into something quite decent.
I think I will hold fire until SO6 then.
December 7, 2013 at 01:26 #461041Yeah I’ll wait until 6 comes out too and see if I still want it then, maybe the notion will have gone off me by then!

May 7, 2014 at 10:02 #47827766/1 for Denman?! On the video can anyone else make out a ginger gentleman wearing a t-shirt bearing the slogan ‘value is everything’ grasping his tank vouchers tight?
