Sad news that the best sprinter of last year (outside Australia), Decon Blues is out for the season.
One that could have given Black Caviar a run for her money.
Value Is EverythingMarch 4, 2012 at 11:40 #394790A pity alright GT, was hugely progressive last season.
PS: I’d say the thread title will give one or two a huge fright
March 4, 2012 at 12:41 #394805The title thread certainly gave me a huge fright! Let’s hope it’s not tempting fate.

Heart skipped a beat there!
March 4, 2012 at 17:17 #394825Methinks that title was very deliberately chosen….
March 4, 2012 at 18:21 #394829Nearly had a heart attack. Thanks, Ginge.

March 4, 2012 at 21:31 #394840Looked very impressive and maybe we haven’t seen the best out of him. Didn’t seem tested in his latest win but Star Witness formlines and general strength of UK sprinting makes comparison to Black Caviar silly.
March 4, 2012 at 23:17 #394856Phew!!
For a minute there I thought the Great Britain team had lost it’s chance to win the 100 metres at the Olympics.

"One that could have given Black Caviar a run for her money".
Presto,
Form of UK sprinters was poor before the July Cup last year. Dream Ahead, Bated Breath, Hoof It and Deacon Blues all better than Prohibit / Star Witness. Those four probably better than we’ve produced in recent years. If you are trying to judge form lines of Bated Breath (Royal Ascot and Newmarket/Haydock) don’t. Bated Breath was far better later on. Would be as silly as using form lines through Star Witness’s Ascot and Newmarket form.Deacon Blues record last year was of constant improvement. Although not a "Group 1" winner, did put up at least one Group 1 class performance. I didn’t say he’d have beaten the great mare and certainly not "
comparing
" the two.
I said "One that
could
have given Black Caviar a
run
for her money". ie If the improvement shown last year continued in to this, he could have given Black Caviar a race; in the same way Hay List gave her a race. Still wouldn’t have expected Deacon Blues to have beaten the Aussie Champ. Am a great fan of hers.
