I came across a copy of the Sporting Investor from December 1952 in a second-hand bookshop and invested the princely sum of 50p for it (it was only a shilling in 1952!).
It has several systems in it, highlights include:
    1. Look for top jockeys that have chosen not to ride at the day’s principal meeting. Particularly look when the top jockey has gone a fair distance to ride at a more minor meeting
    2. In the tipping poll of the racing press (this would be the R Post selections box now) combine the longest priced selections in each race at the principal meeting in each-way doubles and trebles
    3. Back the forecast favourite of the day that has the biggest gap between it and the second favourite
    4. In greyhound racing, look in the form guide for dogs that are running in the same grade as their last outing but are significantly shorter in the betting together. IE a 6-1 shot last time that is 2-1 in a similar race. The magazine scandalously alleges that greyhounds don’t always run on their merits and are "expected" on certain days to win. An outrageous statement.
Those systems are half a century old but are still more sensible than some that are being sold on Ebay today!

You can always learn something from the past.

Check on "ebay" in a few days time and you might find one the systems you have posted up for sale!

I used to subscribe to the Sporting Investor in 1976. The price was 15p a month. I’v still got 6 mags. and a booklet called 100 New Ways To Bet And Win. Nothing really changes.

    8:50……Azure Mist…3rd @ 28/1
Give it a week testing and I’ll put the money down.
