Her bad feet finally got the better of her. Put to sleep aged 15. R.I.P.
November 19, 2015 at 21:14 #1222336What kind of an excuse is that to put down a horse just because her feet are bad and the winter is coming? Why not move her to a stud in southern France with an own swimming pool. She’s earned more than enough in her career so a long retirement with proper treatment would be the minimum she deserves.
Feel very sorry for her!November 20, 2015 at 09:34 #1222375I don’t think they took the decision lightly, she was much loved by all her owners at the Elite Racing Club.
It could have been that she was experiencing pain while carrying a foal so another stud would have been ruled out, I really think they would have considered all options for her. I truly hope so, she was a brilliant racehorse and mare..goodbye lovely girl.
RIP Soviet Song.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...November 20, 2015 at 12:17 #1222386This is the time of year when hard decisions have to be made about a lot of horses ie is it fair to let them go through another winter. When our pony got colic, for example, another pony on the field died from it at the same time and the vet said it was the time of year when a lot of horses/ponies die…as if their bodies know that another winter wasn’t right for them. It’s never easy owning horses and ponies and having to make those decisions and I’m sure they’re never taken lightly. With so much weight bearing down on them any foot or leg problem must be so painful to them.
November 20, 2015 at 13:43 #1222394I can’t pretend to know enough about horses physically or their anatomical issues
(I’ve never owned one and only sat on a couple as a child) to say this was a good or
bad decision, but I am just so sad to see her gone.I remember seeing her very early in her career win at Newmarket and thinking she
looked like a really good horse, which she most certainly turned out to be.RIP
