It’s the worst of the worst, just from an aesthetic perspective. Winners are relatively easy to find, but where’s the excitement? It’s painful to watch.
March 23, 2013 at 15:44 #433891Love it, most unique course around and a fantastic betting medium. Was gutted when it was shut this winter for repairs.

I agree but we have to remember these races aren’t meant to be the showcase races on Channel 4 on a Saturday. Its a bit like complaining at Man U vs Chelsea being cancelled and Sky Sports instead showing Stevenage vs Accrington.
To be honest I’m just happy Channel 4 are still showing races today, I thought they’d just cancel the racing today and stick repeats of Come Dine With Me on. I found the interview with Henderson pretty interesting and overall its been watchable, I think Channel 4 and the team have handled it quite well.

Yes, looks an exciting prospect but given that he started odds on debut hardly a dark one is he? Unlikely to ever represent any value to those who choose to avoid lumping on at short prices.

Very true, paddypower have quoted me 16/1 for him to win the 2014 Supeme Novice Hurdle and 12/1 to win any race at the festival, pretty short!
March 24, 2013 at 18:23 #433961Makes me feel a bit sorry for C4. The big build up to their exclusive coverage of racing back in January – kyboshed by the weather. Their big build up to the start of their exclusive coverage of the Flat season – kyboshed by the weather. Deja vu anyone?

I missed that!

March 24, 2013 at 19:39 #433964The weather is as the weather does.
After the flood damage Southwell has suffered it’s not surprising the track is not so appealing on the eye, as for the Horses well all
Horses are beautiful, some more so than others.
Re C4 build up to start of flat season, get real, we’ve been spoilt in recent times with relatively decent weather which has only served to pander office wallahs and their business spread sheets.
Racing is suffering from too many fingers in the pie, unless organisations are willing to network resources and exposure when fixtures are cancelled for the good of the whole racing scene then the business chaps will eventually walk away because the spread sheet says no…profit.

Except when they stage a Bumpers for Jumpers card. Incredible to think that we’re having one of these in late March, but well done to the BHA for giving good-ground horses with nowhere to go a chance to pick up some prize-money.
