Was he auditioning for a role in a remake of The Excorcist? Thought his head was going to swivel 360 degrees.Bet connections of Dabirsim are delighted to lose his unbeaten record in such a fashion.

Have e-mailed the boys at Equine Horseracing and they are getting back to me.
Was plain ridiculous. Get there pulling double, look around four times, ease him down, caught.
April 16, 2012 at 09:43 #400993I’m all for showboating when a horse is ten lengths clear and the jockey is pulling double, but Soumillion’s theatrics were not only overly exaggerrated, they were disgraceful.
I saw a re-run on ATRs and in all honesty, Darbirsim should have won as it liked, and would have, had it not been for the Belgian jockey’s misplaced arrogance and foolishness.
Soumillion and his clown partner-in-chief are very good jockeys, but someone needs to put a stop to their particular juvenile brand of showboating.

Lester Piggot liked the odd look round – but he always seemed to win. Nijinsky’s King George win being a prime example.

I really think ATR and RUK should do more to make footage of international races available on their sites. RUK in particular charge us £20 per month (plus people who pay for the online service), yet fail to provide the most basic of addional services such as a racing archive theat extends before 2009 and recordings of the top overseas races. I wouldn’t mind but they then constantly bombard us with their bookmaker "partners" adverts.
Considering the likes od Wm Hill and Ladbrokes own SIS, who in turn must have a video library going back at least to 1987, but presumably before as I imagine they must have acquired all the old RTS/Racetech archive footage when they were set up, is it not possible to start providing a historical archive?
I am sure people like me, who like a trip down memory lane, are not in the minority of RUK subscribers – quite the opposite in fact. "Punters" do not, in my experience, bother subscribing to RUK because they watch races they punt on which are usually streamed by the bookie they have an online bet with. So come on RUK, get it sorted and give people like me access to your video archives!!
Right, moan over. Hope you enjoy Soumillon’s nonsense ride. Maybe Beauty Parlour had gone to his head and he thought he was unbeatable?
April 20, 2012 at 18:30 #401557Brilliant Ivanjica, thanks alot for the link.
I had already seen a replay of the end of the race with Mr Invisible tapping Soumillion on the shoulders but as a fan of Dabirsim wanted to see the whole race. If he comes on again for that run will be hard to overlook for the French Guineas.

April 20, 2012 at 18:41 #401560It looked like a perfectly respectable trial. He was riding the horse with hands and heels from some way out. The looking round happened outside the distance so whether he could have won without resorting to the whip is questionable. I wouldn’t be put off backing him in the Poulains and he should improve considerably for the outing.

This is more like it from Mr Soumillion.
He reckons she should gor for the Diane and Jockey Club as this year the gap is two weeks rather than one.
I hope she has a crack, as only four fillies have done it:
1863 La Toucques
1853 Jouvence
1844 Lanterne
1841 Poetessand as you can see it was rather a long time ago.

May 16, 2012 at 09:14 #404315Either a refreshing honest move – or more likely he doesn’t believe the colt has trained on.
May 16, 2012 at 10:44 #404325Dabirsim is a sprinter.
May 16, 2012 at 11:16 #404329Don’t buy that at all. I had ATR when Matt Chapman was saying that immediately following the race – and thought it was tripe.
He didn’t look a Sprinter / non-stayer when pouncing last strides to win the 7f 2yo Group 1 on Arc day.
May 16, 2012 at 14:01 #404343He’s been a bit keen and pulls quite hard, not a sprinter for me but needs to settle better.

May 17, 2012 at 14:56 #404441How many jockeys riding in England today would you put up in a big race ahead of Soumillion?

The second horse Sofast, once he extricated himself out of a pocket, finished harder than Dabirsim in that race and was very much cutting down the winner at the line. Sectional comparisons suggest it was an ordinary win and he had all favors too hugging the rail while the second horse struggled to find clear running.
