    No joy there.
    5.25 Curragh
Spring Feelings third behind DIDN’THAVEMUCHTODO now read well given that that horse went to further black type last week.
The O’Brien newcomer SO BEAUTIFUL wouldn’t have to be great to figure here either.

    Cartmel
    1200
    IBERIA
    Could go very close.
Has won twice once in the flat at this time of year. Beating jungle cove ( now mid eighties). Jungle cove winning last week.
Significantly has already won a maiden hurdle in good style in Ireland only to be disqualified for a prohibited substance.
( Administered in treatment to vet’s dog who then joined in mucking out and wee’d on the hay in horse’s stable) A Galileo who performed well at a good level for Aidan O’Brien.

    SNAP AMBUSH
    Win
    Handicap debut
    Sir Mark Prescott.
Steps up in trip and down in class.
Trainer adept at placing his runners and sending them on a run of wins having obtained a very low opening mark off the wrong distance in maidens and stakes races.
    SEE THE SEA
    Win saver for Donald McCain
Yard on way back up north from Southwell with only runner here.
    ——————————————–
Close but only in the manner of a half length close. Handicapper will not raise the selection much for the effort and sir Mark has a nice rating to exploit.

    Ascot 4.50

    MONET’S SUNRISE
Could have in excess of what is required to do well here.
Returns to the track for first time since a third in a maiden to SAGA. That one now rates high nineties and was second subsequently to Corebus. Pat Dobbs takes the ride for one of the few maidens in this line up.
    MONET’S SUNRISE

Ran well enough but as the tempo increased tailed off in the final furlong…..

    ZANBEQ
    Win
    ROMANTIC RIVAL
    Each way ( four places)
Zanbeq was not going to win last time but in staying on behind the classy winner, suggests there is more to come. Snatched up when heredia drifted and Zanbeq almost ran into the hind of heredia. May have reduced the deficit by half a length.
Zanbeq for me going away at the end.
ROMANTIC RIVAL for George Boughey is thrown in at the deep end and unexposed with a nice low Draw, could reward each way interest at a big price.
    JUMBLY
Running for Roger Charlton for the first time is a classy new European recruit and ran in the German guineas and under Hollie Doyle is the main threat to the selections……

There is a certain satisfaction in highlighting a danger when that horse wins.
But it is tempered by knowing you were not on it!!
    JUMBLY gets up.

    Ascot
Mishriff was second in this last year to the Derby winner.
There is nothing of that calibre here today and while the three year olds all get a ton of weight off the holder horses, there is plenty of quality elsewhere.
In reality Westover should win this given such a weight advantage, but connections have dropped a clanger in not restoring ROB HORNY to the saddle after telling him he was off for the trip to Ireland.
Colin Keane has been handed a chalice here and his record round Ascot is no wins from a multiple number of runs.

    ALMUTAWAKEL
    Win and place
Stable running to form (ie placing or winning) to about 90%. In truely stunning form and being totally selective in running their horses.

Disappointing to get on the end of a run and miss the last rtf runner for the yard by about tens minutes placed at the other track.

Today’s opener sees Reshoun head the field at Goodwood. Ran a career best last time having just been touched off previously by stratum at Ascot. Comes here in blinding form and in my opinion is excellent value and should prove tough to beat if handling the track. On head to heads has superiority over each rival already met.
    Confident decent each way material.

    BATTLEOVERDOYEN
    Win
Looks a mile clear of anything in this race.

Won this race last year off a higher mark.
Only gives weight to runners way down the field, and the first of those is 45 pounds inferior at the ratings.
Prior to that, one horse up, comes Augusta gold and Battleoverdoyen beat that one by over 40 lengths when they met.

    IDOLES DES JEUNES
    Win
Is introduced here by Willie Mullins and looks an above average recruit for a maiden hurdle.
Beat cape gentleman easily on the flat in France.
While that may not be a reliable yardstick when equating the form to national hunt, Cape gentleman won the cesarawitch and is a graded hurdler now.
There are two other potentially smart runners here for Henry De Bromhead and Gavin Cromwell and the advice is to seek them out and put them in a combination TRIFECTA.

    Our Bobby
    Win
    Gets the soul selection treatment.
On the face of it raised 9 lbs seems a bit harsh since his win two runs back.
But he ran into a springer on his latest run when attempting to follow up. That horse went on to win with another stone on board and that means OUR BOBBY has a bit in hand too.
The big question is use it now or keep when further improvement in training has been made and get a better price off and on course ❓❓
    ——————————————–
Question answered and seen staying on behind the leading pack. This runner is a likely future winner but not below 5/1.

I’m aware that soul selections have not been great and there is not a lot to do but keep rowing away on them.
    Watch the weather
Is by his trainers own admission really well treated and won by seven lengths on handicap debut.
“On his first handicap I didn’t think he would do that. He’s probably not too badly handicapped and I’m thrilled with him. His jumping was always good but I just thought going that stride quicker might find him out.

He’s in at Wexford on Friday and if he’s ok I’d say we’ll have to run him.”

Nice handicap winner at Wexford under Rachael Blackmore last night in watch the weather.
I don’t put Aidan O’Brien runners on debut up very often.
The Curragh sees a debut for Aidan O’Briens
    CAIRO
Has missed two engagements and steps up in what looks a very suitable maiden.
Entered up in all the big races, although they always come in for a run, this one should be ready with Ryan Moore on top.

Winning horse coming into a maiden.
    STARLIGHT ROSE 🌹
    Each way.
This is a tough baptism on hurdles debut.
Last year’s winner was a hurdles debutante too boasting six unplaced flat maiden races (Calvados).
Selection was unplaced all starts on the flat prior to last run but kept good company, History, Heather Bear, Show of Stars, Markez Paname.
Transfered from Peter Lawlor to Thomas Dowling, stepped up markedly in trip and won well on third handicap start first time out for new yard at Down Royal.
Without a doubt, had this horse gone to a bigger yard he’d be favourite here.
Faces those big yards here and stable fancy their chances just seventeen days later and only has a chance if going to the front early on and battling it out.

    COMEDIAN LEADER
    WIn
Saffie Osbourne rides and takes 3lb off.
Drops significantly in class here, has stall 1.
Not disgraced when last on debut for yard last time (class two.)
Ran well behind Dunninton Lad and Lucy in the Jungle in class three sellers. Has to give weight away but looks capable of doing so.

At the weights Miss Marianne is a big threat under Hollie Doyle. Hence
    COMEDIAN LEADER win
MISS MARIANNE win without COMEDIAN LEADER

Don’t mind this one being a shortie.
    Beverley 1.35
Yard have gone to some lengths to get
    BEAUTIFUL AISLING
    Off the mark here.
Raced in class 4, class 2 and class 1 Albany stakes.
Close up second in both minor starts, raced very wide on both final turns in latest of those, just failing to get up but six lengths clear of the third horse. Ran green on debut finishing best of all and beaten by the line, nothing else.
    Not disgraced at Ascot.
Stable take the one horse here and Jockey’s only ride. Gets four pounds from wide margin course winner and this is a big drop in class on all three runs so far. Apart from the price difficult to see any negatives. ( Only issue wether horse can cut into four length winning margin of the top weight.)
    Beverley 4.30
    Meanwhile TEMPER TRAP
for Tim Easterby gets to run unpenalised for an apprentice win recently and is well treated subsequently. In good form.

    Win singles and a double.
