February 17, 2017 at 22:01 #1287767There is an article on c&d winners, on at the races website, over five years the winning percentage of all c&d winners, is only very slightly better than none c&d winners, but the overall loss per pound figure is worse, due to c&d winners being overbacked, there are some very interesting articles on system bets at atr, also most systems can be back trialled on Adrian masseys site on the custom reports page for free.
February 18, 2017 at 23:23 #1287990Kaiser‘s observation and percentage statistics are interesting and as such cannot or should not be ignored.
However if put to one side there is the other point which should not also be ignored any horse credited with winning over the same course and distance is proven to have the ability to win and cope with the distance.
I believe this to be a massive reason to favour any such horse, be it the only one in the race or not, to have accomplished the feat and therefore worthy of further consideration.
Bladebuster makes reference to his dad and not knowing how long ago this was may I dare suggest there are some here who may remember ROBIN LLOYD a contributer to the ODDS ON magazine during the 90’s. Robin created several computer style systems and I have some old correspondence dated 1994 and if I may I will bring out some of the elements he thought of as being most important.
*Recent form in the current season (many horses with sound form)
*Avoid “naff” races (my words not his) I am sure we all understand.
*Fields of 4 to 12
*Race value minimum £5,000 but £7500 preferred (how much does this equal today?)
*Ability to cope with both the going and the DISTANCE.
*Take in available information regarding both trainer and jockey
*When allocating point value, previous DISTANCE wins is slightly favoured over previous COURSE wins. There is more but the flavour back then was to seek out “quality” via race selection, trainers and riders, the best form and a horse having proven it is able to cope with both C&D

February 19, 2017 at 08:07 #1288005Guys I appreciate the feedback, my reasons for doing this are sentimental more than anything, its just for a bit of fun. My old man was not a serious gambler, his other system was following horses than had names relating to family members! I miss taking the pee out of his selections, and then him grinning at me when he through in a 50/1 winner from nowhere, so this is just a way of me keeping that alive. I do not expect this to turn a profit

February 19, 2017 at 10:17 #1288021I would have liked your dad Baldebuster, he sounds a swell kind a’ guy.
You do not have to be a heavy hitter to be a poster here and I am sure he would have had some fun with us.
Family names is really not as daft as it sounds, sure I would not have bet the mortgage money but as you say now and again he landed the big one, something favourte backers like myself will never do and will always be envious of those that do.
Venture to Cognac is quite the expert ragarding simiar strategy with this style of play but it is a long term play requiring big balls.
Delve back into the archives here (systems) and you will turn up SWIMBO who played a similar game.

February 23, 2017 at 09:42 #1288551February 23, 2017 at 12:36 #1288561Fancy that!
I started to get to grips with finding my first selection for this idea and placing my first bet on Ultimatum Du Roy with a little help from the At The Races site, all the info was there for me.
Crash and burn!!!!Last evening I also found YISTY having dismissed Toy Theatre/Alkashaaf/Glaring and so am pleased to see you confirm my endeavours which for me is a small e/w punt but then again all my punts are small.
Fingers crossed

Not the best couple of days mate.
The system has picked out Battalion in the big race at Lingfield for tomorrow though. Fingers crossed.
