I heard on channel 4 there were 60 bookmakers at Sandown on Saturday. Surely half a dozen would be enough. I had expected the iphone to finish these people off but there must be plenty of mugs or money launderers left to keep them in business. It’s a while since I’ve been to a track, but last time I went there didn’t seem to be much genuine competition, just people hunched behind screens offering slightly worse than exchange prices. And judging by SPs the prices get worse close to the off.
Has anything changed? Can you get good deals form backrow bookies?
If I was a bookmaker I would compete by offering Betfair SP with 3% commission, but as far as I know nobody does.
