Thank you again for the above reply. I do still find it strange that obvious incidents – like Campaign Charlie – are not mentioned. The antis find out the info anyway – lists are on their site. Sometimes horses do survive when the fall looks a bad one and it’s great to know they are OK but as we can’t rely on Racing Post info – as in the case of C Charlie who is still listed as just a faller – we can’t assume a horse is OK just because RP hasn’t put the dreaded D word. I am not at all interested in betting although I of course realise it’s importance to many – and as such I find it very annoying when that side can be analysed in the most minute detail and yet finding out about the welfare of horses doesn’t seem to merit the same attention. So this is just a plea to race readers etc to PLEASE give us the info good or bad. Thank you.
February 21, 2008 at 00:49 #145206horrid week for Kim Bailey with Constantius having an operation today on a fracture as well….his daily blog very sombre yesterday…
February 21, 2008 at 08:44 #145233Fingers crossed the op goes well and things improve for the yard. Constantius was going so well and didn’t deserve that crunching fall. Kim’s web site is fantastic and shows a lovely attitude towards all the horses – I especially like the section which gives news about the former inmates such as Master Oats and Docklands Express – lovely to hear they’re still going and enjoying their active "retirement".
Hope it’s OK to post a link to it:March 3, 2008 at 17:10 #148140I wonder if he ever looks back on that day and takes ANY responsibility for his horse’s death? How could he blame his horse?????? Why did he think the horse made a mistake – a maniac of a rider making him go too fast … what a complete and utter disgrace to racing …
If you can bear it, the 1989 National can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tP8gwxusAs4, inclusive of Mr Wilson’s “dead horse” comment.
