Potentially Wanderlust in the 3.50 at Nottingham today will bring down the curtain on one of Britain’s greatest ever trainers (in my view).
He seemed particularly adept at getting the best out of fillies.
I wish him well for a long , happy and healthy retirement.
I would be interested to hear any other views on him from other forumitesNovember 6, 2024 at 17:34 #1711990What a sad swansong to a great career. Last of 12 at Nottingham , and one of 14 consecutive losers.
November 6, 2024 at 20:36 #1712009Agree, Coggy. I thought he had something special lined-up for zoday and it does his unique career no justice….
A happy and a long retirement to him.
November 6, 2024 at 21:05 #1712010He often started off his youngsters at Nottingham so I think it was a nice gesture to end his illustrious career there. Wouldn’t surprise me if he had a soft spot for the place.
November 6, 2024 at 23:09 #1712017I think Sir Mikey had told everybody in the game including journos, pundits etc that he didn’t want any huge fuss made of his retirement a la Franco Dettori and was particularly adamant about it. Otherwise there would have been huge fanfare about it seeing as he is such a legendary figure of the game.
One final runner just to say see you on the other side and quietly wind down his days until he can see his wife again in the unknown is the perfect ending.November 6, 2024 at 23:30 #1712018How beautifully put , Chivers.
