So sorry to say the great man died today.
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
June 11, 2013 at 11:32 #442453Such sad news
June 11, 2013 at 11:36 #442454Oh what sad news Joni.
The word "Great" is over-used in sporting terms these days; but Sir Henry was truly a Great Trainer.Value Is EverythingJune 11, 2013 at 11:37 #442455Sad news,a great loss to racing.
If you go to back a certainty always buy a return ticket.
June 11, 2013 at 11:44 #442456Terribly sad news, even if expected.
How poignant and fitting that he should have reached perfection with Frankel during his penultimate year in the game.
Very much the end of an era, his like will never been seen again.
June 11, 2013 at 11:50 #442458One of my racing heroes, he saved the best to last with Frankel.
RIP
June 11, 2013 at 11:57 #442460Big loss to the racing world.

June 11, 2013 at 12:03 #442464Tragic. Great loss to sport, not just horse racing. His rejuvenation lifted the industry during a difficult time.
Rest in peace
June 11, 2013 at 12:10 #442465A great loss. R.I.P. Sir Henry.
Expected, but still very sad.

June 11, 2013 at 12:26 #442466We must celebrate the wonderful life of Sir Henry. His love of life transcended racing. RIP. His final years were filled with love. A very lucky man.
June 11, 2013 at 12:34 #442467What shocking news commiserations to friends and family RIP
June 11, 2013 at 13:15 #442470The names Cecil / Cauthen and horses like Diminuendo, High Estate & Be My Chief were the main reasons why I first became hooked on the sport during my late teens.
My love for flat racing has long since been replaced by NH and I’ve always somehow thought it related to the quiet years of Sir Henry.
In my eyes it is no coincidence that the past couple of years have brought me more pleasure in this code than any since those glory days of the late 80s.
I owe so many happy memories to the great man and am absolutely gutted at his passing but as has been said before, at least the suffering is over and what a fitting memory his latest superstar will have provided for the younger fans, allowing his legendry status to span an even greater era.
RIP Sir and thanks for so many glorious moments.

June 11, 2013 at 13:29 #442472I saw Diminuendo make her debut at Leicester, she won by a furlong also saw Reference Point and Oh So Sharp but i am so sad today.
This will be seriously upsetting many racing folk.
Sir Henry, may have left this land but not our memories.June 11, 2013 at 13:37 #442473Very sad, but not totally unexpected, news.
An outstanding trainer, and by all accounts a very decent man as well.
June 11, 2013 at 13:46 #442475So sad to hear that Sir Henry lost his brave fight today and thoughts are with his family and friends.
Thank you Sir Henry for all the wonderful charismatic horses that you have trained over the years and for Frankel, the tonic that gave you the strength to carry on and to see him outrun his rivals time after time before retiring unbeaten to stud a Champion.
Nobody will talk of Frankel without remembering the greatest trainer of a lifetime, Sir Henry Cecil RIP
