I wonder how much longer Hendo will have Donnelly horses in his care?
The more I know the less I understand.
February 10, 2025 at 13:08 #1720251I am SO glad i cashed out my CH/SG double over Christmas.
February 10, 2025 at 13:18 #1720253Now I am certainly more interested in my L’Eau Du Sud bet!
But the Henderson yard strikes again! Firstly, how can Fitzgerald say he was sound on Saturday and he is out for the season two days later? I doubt he has set foot on the gallops in the intervening time.
Secondly, the horse drifted on Betfair in the half hour or so before Henderson piped up. Who seriously believes people connected to the yard were not laying the horse?
February 10, 2025 at 13:26 #1720255Hendo’s retirement is long overdue, he is obviously cursed!
February 10, 2025 at 13:34 #1720257From a betting perspective this really opens up the each way market.
Just gotta find the potential 2nd and/or 3rd, at what could be a very decent price.
Every cloud and all that
February 10, 2025 at 13:35 #1720258Ballyburn to re-route here now?
I took some 20’s ten mins ago.
February 10, 2025 at 13:43 #1720259Can’t lie, I’m devastated today.
That news has come close to ruining this years Festival for me.
I had him in multiple doubles, trebles and accas at 8/1.
I’d been saying to my dad all weekend that I fear the worst isn’t over yet and had even checked the exchange at 11.30am today to see if he was drifting. At that time he was still evens so I must’ve checked just before the drift began. I could’ve cashed out a couple of bets otherwise.
I honestly think the yard knew he was out from when the news broke last week.
Did anyone hear Fitzgerald after L’Eau Du Suds run. He said something like ”I don’t think Majborough will be too worried about L’eau Du Sud after that”. There was no mention of Sir Gino so I think Mick let the news slip there and then.February 10, 2025 at 13:47 #1720261Then why did he say Sir Gino was sound, before Walsh asked why the horse wasn’t running?
If (and I stress “if”) Fitzgerald knew there was a potentially serious issue with the horse, he hasn’t exactly helped punters.
If I was in charge of ITV racing, I might be having a quiet word with him.
February 10, 2025 at 13:48 #1720262Tiz – i also took some 20s on Ballyburn.
And added
Ile Atlantique at 16s (NRNB)
February 10, 2025 at 13:51 #1720263CAS said “If I was in charge of ITV racing, I might be having a quiet word with him.”
Fitz is ‘close’ to the yard, but Henderson (and SG’s owner) will be the ones to make any official announcement. There’s no way that Fitz could go over their heads and announce something on ITV racing or Sky Sports. No way.
February 10, 2025 at 13:57 #1720264He’s 25s on Betfair but not NRNB.
Definitely worth a small punt as these horses are made of glass nowadays.
February 10, 2025 at 13:57 #1720265I am not saying he should have. But from what I read on here, he said the horse was “sound”, which prompted Walsh to ask why he was not running.
He could have just said there was no change or kept his mouth shut.
February 10, 2025 at 13:58 #1720266I’m pretty sure he did say Sir Gino and Majborough won’t be too worried about it!?
Too many of you lads are flat earthers! Horses get injured. There’s no conspiracy theory’s to see or hear!
February 10, 2025 at 13:59 #1720267You’re probably right Wilts but he definitely knew the truth.
Only mentioning Majborough regards the Arkle was a clear indication he knew Sir Gino was a write off.
February 10, 2025 at 14:03 #1720269Can’t say I am that surprised after they mentioned yesterday that he had taken a step back following the initial diagnosis.
With it being an infection in hind leg ligaments, fingers crossed it is something that is easily treatable with a course(s) of antibiotics and that it won’t be anymore than waiting for that to run its course and clear up the infection.
No chance Ballyburn gets rerouted (well not if they have any sense) as 2m clearly too sharp for him at Kempton and it took him most of the 2m5½f trip to see off Crooke Park last time (his best work coming in last 100 yards when he pulled 5L clear) – the Brown Advisory over 3m looks tailor made for him especially considering most of his family won at 3m and his full brother won over 3m4f.
February 10, 2025 at 14:07 #1720271Why would Mullins send Ballyburn to the Arkle when he already has Majborough for it?
February 10, 2025 at 14:09 #1720272Majborough could get injured also.
Remember Dodging Bullets once won a Queen Mother lol.
