Majborough’s still got that 5yo curse to overcome anyway. No wfa and all that. I’d be taking him on.

Regards Sir Gino. Its a shame and I think Henderson should just stop telling us anything until he knows for certain because hes making a habit of saying the horse is fine and next thing its out for the season or missing a big race. I dont know if hes stupid or doing it for another reason but I’ve said before his yard being sponsored by a big bookie and all of this is terrible optics for Racing.

    TTM,

When a short priced horse comes out of an ante-post race it may seem it’s all in favour of the bookie.
Often forgotten it also means the bookies have been laying every other horse in the race at a lot bigger prices than would be the case if they knew the fav would not run.

Judging by oddschecker the sponsor of Hendo’s yard – Unibet – was one of the last bookies to shorten both Majborough and L’Eau Du Sud. Do you think a bookie would deliberately offer twice as big prices than the horses should be without Sir Gino?

As for Binocular, I believe it was his owner JP who had the horse at his Irish base and must have known its true health well before anyone else. Before being sent back to Henderson.

Reading the latest from Henderson, on Racing Post website it seems that Sir Gino’s condition is quite serious, with infection. If the antibiotics dont work then what?…..

Iam no vet but infection in a ligament for a horse , if anti biotics dont work id guess it wont end well . Fingers crossed for the horse they work . Owners been bit unlucky with the good novice in Ireland too so hopefully they have some luck at Festival .

Praying that he get’s over this, such a beautiful horse. Nicky Henderson has been so unlucky with his top horses being off with injury.
The main thing he recovers and if his racing career is over let’s hope he gets to spend a happy retirement with his owners.
Come on Sir Gino this is your biggest battle yet :rose:

I follow It’s Ginos progeny and they seem to be very talented but fragile. Not just fragile, though, they seem to be unlucky, too. I know I’m a bit superstitious about things like that so I hope I’m being silly. It was a different injury but I’ve been thinking back to poor Red Cadeaux and how difficult it is to treat foot/leg injuries/infections. I feel so sorry for the owners, too, especially after losing Shishkin last year. I’m summing up as much good karma to wing its way to Sir Gino too.

Latest update……..seems like it is going as well as can be expected given the circumstance, the fact that the horse is eating well despite what is going on is a positive.

I saw an interesting thread on X about treating various leg infections in horses. The author is (allegedly) an equine vet, but is not Sir Gino’s vet, so it should not be taken as confirmation of any specific injury.

Horses are such fragile beasts. Really hoping this boy pulls through.

Has contracted some sort of “superbug” and is still stable with no signs of discomfort. Whatever that means…. Wish him all the best and just to pull through, the return to the track is completely irrelevant.

I’ve heard Barry Connell remained unfazed about the news. But, it’s great to have him bback.
