Anyone on here
March 8, 2011 at 17:36 #343756Just had the guy on ATR missed most it though,
bloody well done to him
. Was clear it was ‘ordinary’ ticket before hand given limited betfair movement on Lupita.
March 8, 2011 at 20:17 #343776Guy who only goes racing a couple of times a year. Picked most the horses because he liked the name. If Racing For Change can’t market this guy to the outside world then they may as well give up.
March 8, 2011 at 22:32 #343799Poor guy only got less than £1.5 million after the Tote scrape off. No wonder he plans to keep on working.
March 9, 2011 at 08:20 #343824Although this jackpot was very big, it wasn’t a brilliant deal for punters. About a million rolled over and a million was put in for a gross of £2m. But the net was £1.4m and there was prior to the off about a 20% chance nobody would win so the expected return on a ticket was about 12%.
The winner’s ticket would have paid out very well on a 6 horse acca so it’s not surprising it was not a permutation also done by a syndicate.
I had a bit of money on and was trying to do 10p perms but I could only do a minimum of 50p a line. However, I notice the tote sometimes says something like there are 5.1 tickets remaining in a jackpot, so there must be a way of getting a 10p line. Does anyone know how?
March 9, 2011 at 09:03 #343828Kasparov,
Four one pound lines, a 60p and a 50p line would equal 5.1 tickets.
Well done Steve – at least we’ve avoided having around £4 million decided by the Catterick card today – a seller, a maiden chase, a 0-90 handicap and a novice hunter chase all offering peanuts as prize money could have been the most important races of the betting year.
Bad enough yesterday, with the owners of the last winner collecting £1873, while the Tote waltz off with six hundred grand.

In theory it may well have paid better than the Jackpot, but aren’t limits imposed on wins from multiples? Even by the ‘big’ boomakers
March 9, 2011 at 10:02 #343843Ladbrokes have a £M1 limit.
March 9, 2011 at 11:49 #343866A chap on ATR yesterday said he wasn’t doing a jackpot as the Exeter card was too difficult but he would have done one if it had been at Southwell as it was easier.
March 9, 2011 at 23:25 #343969I used to work at the Tote and tried till my head was sore to get them to substantially lower deductions on all products, especially jackpot and scoop6.
Pointless.
They promote a £2m jackpot and pay out £1.4 then wonder why questions are asked.
As Tom Waites said "The large print giveth and the small print taketh away"
