With ATR losing more courses than a bad waiter should they have tried to get onto Freeview?
If they had gone onto Freeview surely this would have been attractive to a lot of racecourses – obviously no matter what they do the big courses will always sign to RUK being Jockey Club owned but they may have snatched a few smaller independents and kept some of the ones they lost.
They could have asked for more money from advertisers for being on Freeview and brought more money into the business.
Was this an opportunity missed or would being on Freeview have had little effect?

If not freeview, then Freesat.
The is a racing channel of sorts on Freeview, channel 231 is Racing UK, but I don’t have a compatible freeview HD device.
It also says for more information goto this website.

Yes, but you still have to pay for it just the same. It’s not a "free" channel.
December 19, 2012 at 11:54 #423523That, Sir, is an excellent suggestion. They are already free on Virgin, i.e. get the free Virgin TV package and you have freeview plus ATR and a few shopping channels.
Write to them, see what they say?
December 19, 2012 at 22:35 #423592ATR on Freeview would be the greatest Christmas present ever. I can’t afford these Sky or Virgin packages, so i settle for your bog standard freeview and as a consequence can only watch live racing on Saturdays courtesy of C4 (by no means a bad substitute).
December 20, 2012 at 11:08 #423612Peter, if you have virgins standard phone package you can get a free TV package. This is essentially a basic virgin box with freeview plus a few other channels including ATR. So ATR is free, albeit you have to take their phone service to get it.
