First of the 4 group 1’s in store begin at 610 (1m4f) where the Japanese look to have a strong hand. WARM HEART for AOB is expected to run well. No bet for myself.

650 is the 6f sprint where the fav is local boy LUCKY SWEYNESSE. HIGHFIELD PRINCESS looks to enhance her CV even more but has a fairly tricky stall 9 to overcome. AOB has AESOP’S FABLES in stall 1 and at 16/1 he was worth a few quid for interest after running two great races over 5f in France and the U.S.

Jumping to 8 o clock we have another local hero GOLDEN SIXTY who is hot fav but he can be got at here. Coming back from 224 days off and being drawn 14 of 14 isn’t my idea of a good 15/8 best price bet. Watch him whoosh home comfortably obviously. I picked out NAMUR who has an equally tough stall position of 12 but he won a grade 1 in Japan last time from stall 16 at Kyoto where he flew home from the back. I was surprised to see him at 16/1 in the market so a few quid on him please.

The final group 1 (840) is over 10f and we get to see LUXEMBOURG for the first time since running stablemate Auguste Rodin close in the Irish Champion stakes. He’s up against another local hero in ROMANTIC WARRIOR who ventured out to Oz to win the Cox plate last time out. I found this race tough to predict so have left it for viewing purposes only.

    650 – Aesop’s Fables 16/1
    800 – Namur 16/1

Well done chivers good write up.
Ryan Moore puts up about two pounds but still leaves warm heart clear at the weights in stall 1.Add to that proven group 1 form and despite relative inexperience that inexperience has come in group races.
The other horse of interest is geraldina the Japanese runner ridden by William Buick while he’s not the most forceful finisher he will ride to instruction and get the best position.

Thanks Sam. Big fan of the handicaps too. With you on Chiu Chow/Lets Do It. Only other bet is a small one on Silver King 725.

Bloody internet. Not aftertiming, great result. Even better for you if a forecast was part of your thinking. Almost had the tricast.

Holy Mackerel, he came in at 17/1. I thought the 17/2 I took was generous.

Hugely tactical race there and the cat got eaten by the mouse there. You want to see the best horses win and to be fair Junko looked the best of them. Commentator didn’t see the tactics or the horse coming through and he felt the sectionals from zac Purtin were going to win him the race.
As they later said a class four or five would’ve been quicker.
Can’t call it a dreadful race but it wasn’t worth the billing or the massive prize money 💰. ( not because mine lost as they are all running to my expectations as you can see by the placings)
I hope it gets better and I’m a big fan of Hong Kong racing but when horses are not run on their merits in my opinion it isn’t worth watching.
The dog beckons 🐶. two allotments and an installation/ restoration job on a rockery. Missed the last few days through a funeral ( Friday a wipeout after the wake) and helped the missus all day on the market yesterday in the rain so it’s a week of catch up now.
The maiden hurdle at cork 1215 sees Joseph O’Brien run a Gigginstown horse with jack kennedy getting the leg up.
Very rare jockey booking and with the rarity comes the likelihood of an improved performance to back up a good showing previously.
I’m confident that that one will win by five lengths plus. Possibly ten but I’m staying cagey by going for five lengths plus at a little under odds on.
I also reckon that Man Utd won’t wait much longer to sack their manager at 5/4 bit skinny but looks a formality and I’m surprised there remains a book on it. You cannot fallout with your best players and send them to Coventry and a younger manager who seeks to moralise with guys on three to four hundred grand a week is on a loser as the board can’t want to paying such wages for guys who may as well be on loan to Coventry city as they have effectively already been sent there.
Celtic should score three plus goals this afternoon.
Enjoy the rest of the card guys.

One more before the wellies go on!!
    7:25
    Silver king
    Ensued
    Both win
Ensued is unbeaten since arriving from England and is targeting the Hong Kong Derby.
Silver king ran a race full of promise on debut and under Hugh Bowman was just touched off Frankie lor recruit and no messing around as he’s booked Jamie macdonald this time.

Great effort from Luxembourg in the final G1. Looked beaten a furlong out, unlucky not to get up in the end with the locals winning 3 of the 4 group 1’s. Andre Fabre shows the world he’s still got the magic touch though by landing the Vase. A horse comfortably beaten by Westover back in July, I would have liked to have seen a bit more class in this race, the aforementioned Beckett dual group 1 winner would have been a big fancy at a possible juicy price.

Alas, t’was a gert day of racing, time for a nap.

Well done again for starting up the thread I will get on board fully next time round. I had to get out and about the exhibition is taking off and everything I’m doing at the moment revolves around it with my work being one and the same.
The usual suspects really appear to have turned up today including my nemesis wellington and voyage bubble the derby winner.
After that trappy earlier race I lost interest but as you say it looks to have been a decent card
    Well worth it for
    Chiu Chow Spirit
And I’m glad you got on chivers.

If you’ve done the whole card since 4am get yer head down boy.
    Here’s to the next one.

Don’t understand why more british and Irish trainers don’t target theses group ones especially if the have a horse who likesgood to firm going. Aidan won a £1m and Luxembourg probably would have won had he had a prep race. Some very good finishes too.

Incredible races, no horse wrapped in cotton wool. Always a pleasure to watch Racing from HK, Japan or Australia. And Meydan as well…..
