I made a nice start yesterday so it is all sure to go up in smoke today.
June 17, 2015 at 11:20 #1105985I just hope that 5lb penalty doesn’t stop him,he’s a galloper so Im worried that something with a bit of toe might just catch him, something like this Sir Isaac Newton a horse we know stays further than the fav.I’ve done both.3/1 about the fav and 12/1 e/w the O’Brien horse…Get some more pics up on Facebook too!Good Luck.
June 17, 2015 at 12:52 #1105999I’d say you had a wonderful start to Royal Ascot, not just “nice”. 10/1 nap and another two winners David!
As you say, a drop back to 7f is likely to really suit Ivawood. However, he does not have the best form. True, three lengths 3rd to Gleneagles is good form, but Bossy Guest was in 4th and recieves 5 lbs today for just 1/2 a length. The Channon horse was stepping up from 6f to 1m that day and 7f looks sure to suit him too. I believe Hannon’s deserves to be the shorter of the two horses today, probably capable of more improvement at the trip than Bossy Guest. I rate Ivawood as a 30% chance (9/4) having twice the chance of Bossy 15% (11/2); but the fav is currently 15/8 compared to Bossy Guest 9/1. For me, the latter ew is the better bet.
Fadhayyil is also worth considering. Has good form with the 1000 runner-up last season and went in to the Guineas herself very well thought of. Seemed not to stay after travelling well for a long way, possibly didn’t stay a mile (not sure to on breeding) but imo stable form may be a more important factor. Barry Hills out of form then, in excellent form now.
Value Is EverythingJune 17, 2015 at 22:33 #1106483Didn’t The Grey Gatsby run a fantastic race, although my selection Free Eagle, my only winner of the day, got the verdict. I did have a nice each way on Balty Boys at 33/1 he won the race on the stands side but only just got 4th place overall, great ride by Silvestre de Sousa.
I’m sure Fadhayyil would have won the 1000 Guineas but for the bandage thing, she proved it today but just found one better in Dutch Connection, she’s a beautiful filly.
Tomorrow I’m off for a Trip to Paris for my Nap and look forward to your Third Day Selections Article David, good luck. Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 18, 2015 at 08:52 #1106524I was very disappointed at Ivawood’s eclipse Jac, I’d pinned a lot of hope (and cash) on him but nice winner and brave run by Fadhayyil. I thought The Grey Gatsby looked like he should have won but all credit to the Weld team as he’s clearly been a nightmare to train. He (Free Eagle) is a very impressive horse to look at and if they get a clear run with him at home then he could easily progress into a real star.
No winners for me yesterday, a few placed, hoping for better today but it looks the toughest day so far! -
