They also gave Heffernan’s excuses on attheraces and I don’t buy it at all.
On the ability of the winner… surely Heffernan is more qualified than most to know the ability of that horse, so why give it an uncontested 15 length lead, then still be sat about 6/7 lengths behind the winner motionless with about a furlong and a half to go?

Yep. "The stewards don’t know the horse but I do".
You may know the horse Mr Heffernan but you’d struggle to ride a rocking one.
July 12, 2009 at 18:11 #239278Why did’nt he ride Rip Van Winkle yesterday ?
Surely if AOB had full faith in him he would have got the ride.
Heffernan is a long way below the top jockeys, surely this has proved it.
He gets all the crap to ride and occassinaly he gets a good horse to ride. Most often than not when he does get a good one to ride
he does a good job like he did on Fame and Glory in the Derby
. .
In the words of Mr McEnroe – You cannot be serious!!
I’ve been through the Fame And Glory ride before. Tactically inept.
July 13, 2009 at 17:24 #239420I told you so.
I cannot understand how a very average jockey can be second jockey for one of the biggest and best stables in Europe.
I can pick holes in a lot of the rides he has for AOB, they are the only horses I look for so if he rides for another stable then I don’t watch.
As I have said many time before, Colm O’Donaghue should get all the rides that Heffernan gets.
July 13, 2009 at 19:11 #239433Change the record ffs. Seámie screwed up on Drumbeat. He’s hardly the first jockey to give a horse a bad ride and he certainly won’t be the last. He’s been punished by the Turf Club and will get over it, like some of the people contributing to this thread should.
As for people constantly slating the ride he gave Fame And Glory at Epsom – he rode the horse to Aidan’s instructions and Aidan was perfectly happy with the ride. Anyone who thinks he’d have beaten Sea The Stars if ridden diferently is away with the fairies anyway.
I’d love to know how many of the experts on here have ever thrown a leg over a horse, let alone ride 5 classic winners.
