For anyone who is interested :)
January 1, 2007 at 17:37 #35032Heck, missed it.
Ah well, if it is the greatest horse racing movie ever made, it is only borrowing that honour until it is rightfully bestowed upon the soon to be released Bob’s Buster – The Musical, starring Jimmy Nail as Kenny Johnson, Joe Haywood as a deranged fan, and a plank of wood as Derek Thompson. Happy New Year, y’all!

January 2, 2007 at 18:34 #35033I watched it even though I already have the DVD (which I haven’t watched!)
I’d only seen it once before but I’d forgotten how very good it is. The racing sequences – especially the final race – will be pretty unconvincing to racing people but as a film it is a beautifully made spectacle and soppy b*ggers like myself will need some hankies.

I believe those to be the 5 finest films I’ve ever seen. Testament to Seabiscuit, which really is a wonderful film. Excellent story, excellent acting, very accurate re-enactment. I can’t fault it.

Some good films there, but ive seen better ;)
Would not include Seabiscuit. Its well made (sluggish start) but, as is so often the case, no a patch on the superb book
The actor playing the jockey is miscast and the trainer’s remarkable character is not fully developed
The book is beautifully wriiten. Economic in style and yet quite moving too

January 3, 2007 at 18:43 #35038Downloading it as we speak track. Have been for a while but getting a bloody slow connection!!!
I hope it is good, as I really cannot stand Scorcese’s films. I watched Taxi Driver a couple of weeks ago. What in god’s name is that about???
And Gangs of New York???
January 3, 2007 at 19:37 #35039Oh dear….the sweeping statements are back
For me Casino is just his best in front of Goodfellas. The Aviator was excellent too.
January 3, 2007 at 21:11 #35040The best film is Highlander. Simple as :)
