Usually like an Antepost in this, but as with a few other upcoming races, the two who jump out are Duffle Coat, and Kilcruit.

I like the pair of them for Fairyhouse, but this looks more realistic for Duffle Coat, and he had what could have been a potential “sighter” here earlier in season. I’d be surprised if Kilcruit ran in this, unless Mullins has a very late change of heart and tries to win everything over here before the seasons out.

Both look winners waiting to happen to me, and just a case of being as cautious as possible, but I really like Duffle Coat.

There are another five on the immediate shortlist, with Kilcruit on the back burner for now………

    Apple Away
    Brandt
    Dom of Mary
    Duffle Coat
    The Kniphand
    Val Dancer

……all very nice prices, but no option but to wait just now, but definitely Duffle Coat if I had to bet just now

Anyone know what happened to Kitty’s Light?

He’d been tumbling down the weights and I really fancied him to regain his title here but he’s not even in the betting.

Magna Sam at 50-1 is my idea of a nicely priced outsider, but I can wait for this one until maybe the week before

GM23, Kitty’s Light not entered for the race.

Long range fancies are Surrey Quest, off the back of a sound effort at Musselburgh and Your Own Story, though definitely need some rain for the latter to slow the others.

I do see VtC’s view on Duffle Coat. Wasn’t put into the race here in January, but had nice day out at the course, and was in the process of running a big race when brought down late on at Cheltenham.

Again gone for Duffle Coat in this at 35s. Now done him in all 3 nationals so hoping he’ll come good in one of them!

He brought Duffle Coat over as a box companion for the well handicapped Timmy Tuesday who sluiced up on the same card.

I’ll be weighing in on Surrey quest if he’s at 5 day decs but I’ve not heard him spoken about anywhere by connections for weeks now so who knows if he’s an intended runner.

All of Willie’s horses shortening up for this. Who knows what he will send but I’ll try O’Moore Park at 20s ew. Only entry is here and I liked his run at Cheltenham.

Like last year, no need to be clever and try to find something, as it’ll be won by a Mullins horse we’ve not really heard of.

Or maybe Macdermott will double up. It’s been very gently campaigned, Langer Dan style, to get back down to last year’s weight.

Last season’s win over Surrey Quest, by a short head, was devastating in its bloody inevitability.

I’d have liked to have seen the field for this race had Aintree not been so successful for Willie. As it is, he’ll run six or seven now. Could be some interesting jockey bookings as he looks to some of the better local riders perhaps?

Spanish Harlem is my main fancy at 33-1, but I’ve had second on Our Power at the same price

Dodged a bullet with two main early fancies, Duffle Coat, and Kilcruit. I should read the signs and avoid an Antepost, but I’ve taken Brandt. May have better chance of sneaking in here, than at Fairyhouse. Liked his run at Leopardstown, and think there’s more to come.

Mullins will be the headline act, and of his, A Penny A Hundred appeals a lot, but I’ll wait and see.

Still very interested in those on original shortlist too
