Sorry Moehat but the only reason Gone to Lunch was that close was because he was in the cart being pulled by Bud. (Modesty prevents me referring to my earlier post but I think I gave a little clue to the winner.) Message to NTD – have a drink on me and a lemonade for Paddy.
Cheers
KenApril 18, 2009 at 20:22 #222522My penance is paid; shall now hibernate for the summer…..
mmm, make that 7 out of 10….
Sadly Hello Bud didn’t reach my price and remained unbacked. Ironically this time last year he pulled up in the Highland National….., but then that’s a proper big race!
April 18, 2009 at 22:11 #222526Well done Ken and Ken(dal).
In the end, I didn’t actually care about the National result, as I’d earlier had the biggest win of my life when Extraterrestrial won the Spring Cup.
Looks like I’ll have to resort to studying the form for the bet365. I wish I had known or noticed that stat from Cavelino about Chief Dan George and big fields.
April 18, 2009 at 22:42 #222531Thanks and well done to you Gerald. ET formed an across the card double for Fahey and I think he had two in the race but I went off BOD and failed to notice his other runner.
With Tricky being a non-runner at AYR it left Waley-Cohen at a loose end so I wonder if he had an interest in the big-priced Waley-Cohen (Sen’r) winner at Bangor which coincidentally beat NTD’s runner.April 19, 2009 at 06:21 #222565Not just the winner but a blow by blow account of how he was going to do it; not Mystic Meg but Mystic Ken; as my total profit for the season is now @ £2.50 I need help with the Whitbread!
April 19, 2009 at 09:45 #222569Before the Whitbread, maybe we should have a big plunge on either Ken’s or Rob’s selection for whatever is the big staying h’cap chase at the Perth meeting.
April 19, 2009 at 12:19 #222572Moehat and Gerald,
Thanks but I can assure you that it was a once in a blue moon moment and unlikely to be repeated ever again. As a one-off moment though, it was a liittle smugly satisfying to be able to give an in-running commentary, in advance.
I have peaked and now it’s downhill all the way.
Cheers
KenApril 19, 2009 at 13:05 #222576Well, I can’t change the habits of a lifetime so will have to back Roll Along [following on from backing him for Gold Cup and National] and Darkness [he’s out to get me]. Also convinced that Cloudy Lane and Whiteoak are going to win before long, so checking out the former at Perth.
April 19, 2009 at 13:07 #222577My youngest daughter backed the winner. She took an early price – 14/1. Because, she said, " I like the number fourteen. "

I may as well give up.

Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
April 19, 2009 at 13:21 #222580She’ll be hooked now, like me with my bet on Team Spirit all those years ago! However, 14/1 is probably the best price for a horse in this sort of race; I always reckoned that it was the price to go for in the Grand National. Bet The Lazy Punters Black Book would have picked out this one as well; NTD; Scottish National; lump on….hindisght etc etc….
