May 17, 2014 at 23:39 #479406Got to feel for the guy who staked £8 and was so close to being a multi millionaire with Escape to Glory but only picked up the consolation of just over £1,717.
May 18, 2014 at 09:36 #479437Hopefully he managed to lay the beast to some extravagant sum, but that is probably unlikely.
Must have been absolutely gutting.
May 19, 2014 at 11:31 #479547A 2 quid six horse acca on Saturdays Scoop 6 race winners, at bookmaker SP, would have paid almost 11.5 million quid. That’s nearly twice what the Scoop 6 was paying if won.
Granted, it’s good publicity for the sport I suppose and most bookmakers limit their payout to a million anyway, but its hardly a value bet is it this Scoop 6, paying out at half bookmaker SP.

The is always the view that if his final selections was unplaced then he’d have got nothing.
Read this in Mirror and for the first 4 legs he was out walking the dog, by the final leg he had 2 surviving attempts left. One finished second and he picked up £1,717 for that, the other finished sixth and he got nothing for that one.
He said he needed a drink to calm his nerves, and like the rest of us in that situation (me included ), was counting his possible winnings as won.
If he’d had won, he would still have to pick the winner of the bonus race to collect the full amount.

It’s a good point, although as you say bookmaker’s limits make it better ‘value’ (if that’s the word) in these rollover cases.
I’ve often wondered how the ‘standard’ Jackpot/Scoop6 payout compares to an SP/Early Price acca but have never seen any figures for such.

I mentioned that fact to my wife, having looked at the SP’s and done a quick mental tot-up.
Mind you, I once worked for a betting shop who had a limit of £10,000 for day to day business. Imagine getting a six fold acca up at the odds and getting a measly ten grand. Blimey!
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 19, 2014 at 19:50 #479578Would you only get the 1 million maximum pay out though for the acca if backing sp.?

May 19, 2014 at 20:22 #479583I wonder what races they will pick for this Saturdays Scoop 6 as the C4 scheduled races don’t look too competitive and they are showing Irish races too, wouldn’t be surprised if a 30 runner Irish handicap sneaked in or even a 50 runner race from Portman Park as leg 6
May 22, 2014 at 11:26 #479748Don’t be surprised to see at least one and probably two races from Catterick included.
The ‘Totescoop6 £2 Life Changing Bet’ handicap has attracted an impenetrable field of fifteen to scoot round the 7F course at 2:50.
Then there’s the ‘Follow Scoop6 at Totepoolliveinfo.com’ handicap over the same C+D with fourteen runners at 3:25.
Add in three Betfred sponsored handicaps from Haydock with 13, 16 and 17 runners respectively, top off with another 7F 12 runner handicap at Goodwood and you have a recipe for either a single winner or another rollover.
Good luck.
May 22, 2014 at 12:10 #479752Could be my week then
May 22, 2014 at 15:11 #479763As soon as I saw the entries I thought there would be at least one race from Catterick included, it certainly must deter the syndicates from getting involved to buy it now.
It will be interesting to see how much goes in this week as I’ve not seen that much outside advertising or publicity for such a life changing bet if you could get it up.
May 23, 2014 at 10:48 #479812Saturdays scoop 6 races.
