Forever Young wins for a second time. Proper champion. Didn’t win a Group 1 until he was almost 4. I can’t help thinking that, if he’d been based in Europe or the US, he’d have been gelded halfway through his 3 year old career and have to work his way back up from handicaps. Hopefully he’ll eventually pass his soundness and talent onto future generations. This is why Japanese racing will be increasingly dominant, while our stock declines due to obsession with 2 year old winners bred from parents too weak to race beyond one season (often not even sound enough to complete that).
