What about all the people having to travel home afterwards? better idea would be revert back to it being on a weekday and to have a National holiday called ‘Derby Day’. I’m sure HM could pull a few strings.
Channel 4 wouldn’t wear it. It would interfere with all those repeats of "Come Dine with Me" and "Restoration Man".

Only a triple crown contender could excite Joe Public, or someone throwing themselves under the Queen’s horse like Emily Davison did in 1913.
Ask Joe Public for a Grand National winner and most would answer Red Rum because history was made when he became a triple winner.
Racing remains a minority sport, unlike say football. Most people may like or dislike football but it is recognized .
