We had this thread a few weeks back, and it was an enjoyable way to pass the afternoon on and hopefully find some winners.
Although we’ve lost Donny to Jack Frost, Cheltenham has been given the go ahead – and thank Christ it has because its a cracking card.
The first race is at 12:55, and hopefully we can start with a winner.
Good luck all!!

I like the look of the favourite in the opener. Maybe Local Hero can make it a great start for me. Just looks the most accomplished at this stage. Good luck.
January 29, 2011 at 11:50 #338174Third Intention for me in the first, very taken by the performance on debut – and the Nicholls horse came out and won yesterday to frank the form.
Not too sure on the fav, not sure what it has beaten so far. I’m looking forward to seeing Maoi Chinn Tire again, I was at Wethervy when it scooted away and 200/1 (didn’t back it mind). This horse could be anything, and part of me would love to see it win.
Third Intention @ 100/30.
January 29, 2011 at 12:36 #338186hi guys,
interesting juvenile coming up here but im not at all keen on any of the market principles.
may just have a very small w/p punt on the outsider Lapin Garou of Nick Mitchells. without doubt it will have to step up significantly fron its debut run but its not impossible. shame its only a 7 runner race from the each way perspective though.
some good looking fare coming up later on and im excited
January 29, 2011 at 13:22 #338199McCoy wins the first – thought I had a chance, but no cigar in the end.
Next race is tricky – a novice handicap. I backed Vino Griego last time out and it ran well to finish third. Horse was very highly tried previously – both over hurdles as well as fences – and looks to have benefitted from a recent drop in class.
The favourite is in good form and should run well.
Vino Griego @ 9/1 e/w.
January 29, 2011 at 13:24 #338200race went to form much to my embarassment
well done guys with the 1st and 2nd.ok onwards and downwards
130 Misstree Dancer, market drifter probably due to better ground having won and run well on soft/heavy. had a few of these behind lto but is a double figure price so again small ew w/p wager for me.

Bad luck there mate. I backed Vino too. Jumping badly cost him. 11 – 1.71 in running was some concession.
A little trade on Drever Route for the next.
January 29, 2011 at 13:55 #338204wishful thinking for me here.
im not the greatest fan of mr hobbs but this one has shown enough in its last two runs to convince me it will go well here.
open looking race and not really an each way price but it will still be a small w/p wager for me.
January 29, 2011 at 13:58 #338205I didn’t lay off much to my loss.
Another top class handicap here. Seen as I’ve hit the post twice, i’ve picked out two in this – hopefully I won’t hit both posts!
Wishful Thinking ran a cracker last time out, despite being badly hampered during the race. I took 9/2 this morning, but its drifted a point.
I’ll also be having a saver on Chapoturgeon, in the hope that he rediscovers its best form at the scene of his finest hour.
I’d love Noland to run a cracker too, always been a fav of mine and Calgary Bay is well weight too – although I don’t think anyone knows his best trip.
Wishful Thinking @ 9/2
Chapoturgeon @ 11/1January 29, 2011 at 14:27 #338211Finally, we’re onto a winner.
In the next I just love Tidal Bay. One of my favourite horses, I’d love to know what goes on in his head.
I’ve back Punchestowns for the Ryanair, so I’m hope for a good, if non-staying, effort from him.
Hopefully Tidal will run on past him at the business end.
Tidal Bay @ 5/2
January 29, 2011 at 14:28 #338212a winner
travelled and jumped superbly all the way round.next up the agento chase minus time for rupert.
PN runs two here in neptune collonges and the tother one, neither of which appeal to me. the pipe runner madison could go well IF on a going day but those are few and far between.
that leaves me with the market principles puncherstowns and the enigmatic tidal bay.punchestowns could well win this on the bridle and the fact that this is a small field further adds to the appeal for this one as it will be able to dominate methinks. however im going to take a chance on the complete monkey that is TIDAL BAY. backed this one when it won the arkle but have done my money quite a few times since. don’t think it will be a serious gold cup challenger ( neither will anything from this race) but it does have a good record here and may well be running on at the end to great effect.
not one to get serious about by any means so ket again a small bet – win only.
January 29, 2011 at 14:39 #338215respect to neptune a great performance there. may well have got the run of the race but nevertheless right back to form for the old horse.
January 29, 2011 at 14:41 #338217Tidal Bay is some pig of a horse, plenty left in the tank running up the hill.

The champ seen at his best again there. The thief runs his usual race in second.

Now to see if Backspin is the real deal in what looks a cracking race.
January 29, 2011 at 14:54 #338220next up Backspin.
much to like about this one performances so far and looks to be the one to beat here. quite like rock on ruby also but despite the price im happy to punt the JP horse in this.
large win bet for me
January 29, 2011 at 15:14 #338222backspin just not good enough there
. the winner and the second look ones to follow at the festival for sure.January 29, 2011 at 15:16 #338223

Good win but a somewhat inconclusive result given the pattern of the race. Looked more like a mile and a half contest than a true two and a half miler.
